A PC with a Core i CPU (and a Nvidia videocard) should be the best solution. The most arm boards are to slow for GameCube emulation.

nice! have fun :) for some reason tekken 3 used to crash after the ending cut-scenes in arcade mode, but other than that it worked ok.

Don't see a way to delete this thread otherwise I would....

we don't delete threads here :) technically this should have been in help & support, asked as a question, and now marked as solved. i've done that :)

I just wanted to update this post as I fixed the issue. I had installed the Adafruit-Retrogame manually and forgot to add the rules (see end of this guide https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Retrogame)

now it's working, hope this helps fix similar issues.

    @celly said in PSX Issues...:

I uninstalled any psx emulator I had and deleted all roms and BIOS. Tried again with lr-pcsx-rearmed, moved a rom over and BIOS file and still nothing. Anyone else have any ideas?

"nothing"? it loads and then quits or? can we have full file path and file name of game and bios please?

Sorry i didn't reply back, was out of town for work. Yeah so from ES, I can launch a rom and it goes black screen, then back to ES. Like I said before, this was all working as intended, correct BIOS, roms in .pbp format.

    BIOS - located in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS
    (SCPH1001.BIN exactly)
    ROMS - located in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx
(I've used .pbp format but since this hasn't been working I've gone and tried a few .bin and .cue)

Since I'm home and I have some time I'll install and config just pcsx-rearmed. I thik the problem lies in the lr core.

I got it working!! you may close this thread if need be or leave it open for everyone to see if this can help them anyways.....

i feel really dumb but live and learn right anyways so i extracted the iso from the gz file using 7zip which i did not read up on stupid of me anyways i used winflash tool and burned the img on to my sd card and it corresponded took the retropie and finished :)

still does not explain why at first it would not take my sd card when i flashed it and put NOOB on it as i was not burning on to the sd because it states it does not require a burn but anyways :D

@herb_fargus as a noob I'm guessing it worked for me because I was missing some file that came onboard with lightdm. I agree, is love to know why it worked. For now, just keeping my eyes crossed. 😁

@k-shaps said in MAME Setup help:

I already read through that. I guess my question is what can I do for games that are supposed to work with certain bios and are not? Did I just get bad ROM files?

i mean, if you've read it you already know you have bad rom files ;) do you see .75b listed anywhere on that page as a romset that the mame emulators we ship with use? get the right romset for the emulator you want to use first.

@SpudsMcToole I just edited that post that @UDb23 is linking to above with a note that setting the display resolution is no longer necessary with AdvanceMAME 3.x because it now has improved Pi support for video settings.

As for the fancier filters like bloom and trail effects, I would love to see this, but these options are not available on the older versions of MAME that are otherwise working nicely on the Pi. However, it would be interesting to explore newer versions of MAME that are experimentally available to see if it is possible to get an advanced shader like this working. Effects like those that were running on the old AAE emulator in Windows were amazing, but if I recall, even back then it required a decent GPU to pull them off. Can the Pi handle such a challenge, even if it was being done almost a decade past? I have doubts. I have settled for high-res vectors, some transparency and flicker, and maybe some shadow masks on color.

MAME shaders aside, I am curious about what could be done with a retroarch shader in this regard. I don't really know much about them, but someone like @davej might be able to pull a rabbit out of hat, even if it meant making a few compromises. To make it worthwhile, we would first want vector games to render in full-res on lr-mame2003, not to mention, someone like davej would need to have more than a passing interest in old vector games to generously contribute his time to the effort.

EasyRPG is in Zerojay's RetroPie-Extra repo. I had it working but something went wrong with my SD card and I started a new SD card and it does not want to work now.

    https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra

When it worked, I just copied the directory of the game files into the RetroPie/ports/easyrpgplayer/games folder.

I didn't have the RTP files when it was working, but the installation file says to copy the RTP into the RetroPie/ports/easyrpg/data folder. I would guess that it would have to be the files and directories as I don't think .exe files work on the Pi.

    https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/blob/master/scriptmodules/ports/easyrpgplayer.sh

Trying to troubleshoot it. Seeing if I can install the dependencies and then reinstall it.
