aarch64 is an ARM 64 bit system (kernel), while arm7l is 32 bit ARM.

Can you convert from System: rpi4 (aarch64) to System: rpi4 (armv71)?

It depends. If you installed your system from the beta 64bit Raspberry Pi OS image, then no, you cannot convert. If you merely modified the /boot/config.txt file on a 32 bit Raspberry Pi OS and added the option to boot the 64bit kernel (arm_64bit=1), then you can remove that configuration line and you'll be booted back to a 32bit kernel/OS (arm7l).

got an answer in the dev-forum of ppsspp: this issues is caused by new saving-routines, also the paths have changed/shortend (from /roms/psp/psp/system/ -> /roms/psp/), so you will find saves on the memorystick there since 31.01.2022.
The issue is well known and should be fixed with the next update in a couple of days.
FYI, even if i seem to be the only one here using / updating the lr-ppsspp-core :D

@uncledisgusting said in lr-genesis-plus-gx master system sound garbled after restoring save states - all games affected:

My pi 4 isn't overclocked - what settings would you suggest I use for that please?

I don't have any recommendation, as i said i don't own a pi4. I'm just thinking that garbled sound can be the result of performance issues, and gpgx appears to be surprisingly demanding. So i'm wondering if an overclock could improve things.

@uncledisgusting said in lr-genesis-plus-gx master system sound garbled after restoring save states - all games affected:

    should they be enabled?

Probably not, they are features that will lessen performances.

On a sidenote, savestates with the nuked setting appear to be broken to me : i just tried loading my savestates from yesterday and the core crashed, after some more tests it appears the core can't load savestates from another session on my setup (it works just fine if i set it to MAME). That might be related to your issue. Maybe report this to the author, and/or change setting/emulator.

There are no performance issues whatsoever playing a game with nuked sound in the initial session

Your sidenote issue IS the issue that I have been concerned with the whole time. Thank you for corroborating that. I think this emulator is the only one with nuked fm sound.

@fmentiplay Because it hasn't been updated yet. But you can update once the image is written easily enough.

Thank you! That was exactly what I was missing. It is funny, because in my first Retropie copy I've got exactly that command but forgot about it now.

Sorry for little bit stupid question. Thanks again.

can you give an example? fmv in PS1 games used pretty brutal compression. it's typical to see constant ugly colour banding on real hardware.

Not an FMV, but I believe it's a 24-bit color scene. Comparison between a screenshot and the screen. Some of the grays in the photo aren't completely gray.

    Thank you foryour advice.
I will attempt to install RetroPie manually on my Raspberry Pi 4 running Raspberry Pi OS. I want to have the experience of manually installing RetroPie.
I think Retropie is brilliant and I am keen to get it working correctly and use all it's features.
Once again thank you for your help.

    Hey!

Many thanks to both of you for your feedback!

In the end, it was the Raspberry Pi Imager tool that got the job done - excellent!

Unfortunately, the weekly builds link didn't work for me, the same problem continued. I also, out of curiosity, tried Firefox (as was trying Safari and Chrome) and pressed the resume function every time the download failed along the way - that method completed the download.

Anyway, thanks again for your help re the Raspberry Pi Imager help! :)

    @retrofdi

So, you get the same results on fresh install...And just spit balling per say, how many video ports do you have? Additionally, have you tried any other displays? My thoughts would be the next thing to look at the communications via HDMI (Assuming you are using HDMI based on the hardware). I would use a known/good HDMI cable, attempted another port, and another display is possible.

Thanks for all the help, I finally figured it out. There was a directory config overwriting in the folder with the bios config, when I removed that one my own configs worked and everything is now perfect.

@mitu I've managed to get audio working now, I just needed to add the "-audio default" command to the below. Hope this helps someone else. Now just to solve the DPAD issue :) Thank you!

/opt/retropie/supplementary/moonlight/moonlight.sh stream -verbose -config - audio default "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/steam/Steam.ml"

@sleve_mcdichael Just my 2 cents here but a USB keyboard should always be set up as well for times like this. Whenever something happens you can reconnect the USB keyboard and have a backup control to fix the other issues. Then unplug it when you're done with it. :)

There's a virtual keyboard on my end when using Netplay, no physical keyboard needed.

I guess first try updating to the latest Retropie version along with Retroarch as well.

Currently the themes installation menu shows (installed) next to installed themes:

    01966fb0-e9b7-47ce-bbe8-06dfa2ff2527-image.png

As for the error during install, the only thing I see being an issue is the internet connection - is your Pi system connected to the internet ? If you run an update of the RetroPie-Setup script, does it work or it errors out ?
