@edmaul69 I think I was getting some interference with the foil, kept getting slow copy speeds to the flash drive or copy errors, so the foil was removed and the issue was resolved.

@rulmismo Yeah, the screw terminals hanging out from the wall plug have gaps around them, open/electrified screws exposed so someone with a tool in hand might be able to electrocute themselves.

One step better would be to use an extension cord, keeping the female end. Plug your DC adapter into it instead of the screw terminals, then use the length of cord to replace your black and blue wires, cutting the extension cord when it reaches your plug on the right side and re-solder. At least this would put the dangerous part only on the right side which you could protect again with heat shrink like you have now, and you could even glue a little a thin box around it so it can't accidentally get pulled and touched.

That's kinda what I did with my cabinet. I glued some thin wood around the point where the AC comes into my cabinet and made a little box around it. My internal high-voltage power is just the end of an extension cord inside my cabinet.

It's because you're using a very old version of my theme, It's had lots of changes since then to support various addition and changes in ES.

Ah that makes sense.. Does your newer version have a lot of changes, or does it just work better on the newer EmulationStation. If it's the same, but just works better with updated ES, then I might have to check it out. Got a link?

I got this version off the internet by googling it. So I had no idea what version or even who made it till coming on here!

As I said previously my theme isn't particularly easy to follow due to the layout system I made so everything is spread over multiple files which complicates any changes that need to be made.

Yeah no kidding lol!! It's like trying to put together a puzzle, but most of the pieces are in other boxes, and you have to go through each box to find the connecting piece.

Looking at code gives me a headache, so this is more difficult for me than others maybe.. I'm hoping sooner or later to get this fixed..

There is the a-pac board, but 39$ is too expensive and the second controller will be useless.

Today I managed to test all of the components outside the case, and everything works with my test Pi. Running off the battery without a booster works just fine with a Zero.

Cranking up the volume in RetroArch makes the piezo loud enough to hear for general gaming, even if it's not quite high fidelity.

Everything plays really nicely now that I'm using the board where I soldered to the chip pads instead of the old "make your own test pad" method.

Next up I need to make everything fit in the actual case. First up, removing unnecessary stuff from a Pi Zero. This looks awful, but it works. If anyone has tips on removing the USB ports, HDMI port, or camera connector in a cleaner manner, please let me know.

@lilbud, this is exactly what I was looking for, except I'm hoping to find 8-bit and 16-bit era games. Although with waht TMNTturtlguy has mentioned above, HD game logos may not be the direction I want to go after all. Thanks though.

@udb23 about 3 weeks ago I was trying to write a kind of "cheevos scraper" (discussion in this thread) but got distracted hunting cheevos for Mega Man 3 and 4. After beating Mega Man 4 i restarted the work on the cheevos-scraper. And now you throw this Mega Man 5 art here!!!

They look awesome! The launching art is so beautiful!

The temptation to dive into Mega Man 5 cheevos hunting is big, but I will try to finish the cheevos scraper first. I think I can release something in a week and then it will be @pjft turn to make it useful for EmulationStation. :-)

@herb_fargus Yes this is/was my intention. Just update with 3 auto systems and a collection entry, maybe CPS1-3 and that's it. But there is no roadmap ... and surly nothing for the next week maybe end of september.

@glennlake Sorry if I wasn't clear. The screen is working, newer kernels support it. I just can't get it to work with the romtastick script. I was thinking something was up with the script as when you bring up the menu to choose the ILI9341 it doesn't seem to stick, thus why I looked at the json file to see if I could force it, and at least there it looked like it was set correctly.

I tried tonight with the quick install from adafruit and had the same result. I'm going to try again tomorrow with their image to see if the cause is anything that was upgraded when I updated packages during setup. Thanks for your help.

@melvin-fox Appreciate the encouragement.

I've had to reconsider the design and features of the enclosure as I was relying on somebody else to build it and now am unsure on when or if this will happen anytime soon. Using an arcade stick with the Pi was the priority so for now, the Pi will stay as is and outside the initial build (version 1). I'll continue to power it as I always have.

As this is my first arcade stick build and likely to be a temporary solution, it's very low budget. It's currently housed in an cardboard box! I'll look into upgrading it into something more classy once I can establish how much use it's going to get. I received all the parts last week and spent some time on weekend wiring everything up to ensure it was all working.

I'll reconsider the options we discussed here once it's upgraded and decide if an all in one arcade stick/PI solution is the better option. More importantly, if it can be achieved using the few tools I have access to whilst keeping costs to a minimum.
