      hey hi
how did you solved your problem? I have similar issues with the arcade controller of my cabinet. After configured the arcade Control in the reicast conf/menu, I launched a game and try to play. But no buttons work.

I replied to that same old thread that you are talking about:
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/22692/fake-8bitdo-sf30-pro-way-to-get-working/21

As I mentioned over there these controllers work just fine over Bluetooth on my Linux PC, but aren't detected over Bluetooth on the pie. Thought I'd drop a comment here also so I can see if any progress is made by anyone else.

@chubsta That's exactly what @mitu said should happen, if I understood him correctly. Doesn't it on your system?

I was waiting for answers before I bought a new controller!

There's no link to the code (?).
RetroPie uses a helper (joy2key) to translate gamepad inputs to keyboard keys, interpreted by the dialog screens. You can use the joy2keystart and joy2keystop as wrappers for your script - see https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/helpers.sh.

      @KN4THX
I got both Android and Microsoft mode detected when wired.
Android detects as a PS Controller
      Microsoft as a 360 controller
it does NOT like Switch Mode

Odd question, my Retropie's sound for PS1 games are really, really low and not sure why.

I have set up a new retropie with two xbox one wireless controllers. Both have worked perfectly.
Then, after weeks of intense use, the left on the right joystick stopped working on the first controller. But Ok I just used the second controller for that single game where I need both analogue joysticks. Today after month of intense use the same thing appeared on the second controller. The left on the right joystick stopped working. I have tested the controllers on another linux using jstest-gtk, they are in perfect condition.
Just that single left axis on the right analogue joystick is affected. everything else is still working. strange.

@Sparkathor There's a joystick selection tool that can be used to configure which controller is Player 1 for different systems - https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection.

@Erdrick said in Unable to Configure Controller:

My hunch is since I configured it for a keyboard and nothing else, he needs a keyboard to select input configuration and it should work from there.

If you configured a keyboard as controller in ES, I think the initial controller configuration screen would not show

If that's the case - and he gets the normal ES system carousel - then he'll not be able to configure the controller on 1st boot. He would, indeed, need a keyboard.

You should try out the xpadneo driver: https://github.com/atar-axis/xpadneo

see the section under install. This is specifically designed to work with the bluetooth xbox one controller model 1708.

@Efriim said in Sega 6 button controller mapping (with shoulders):

EDIT: Actually I don't know much about the different updates occured, apparently a man named Francois is the one who developed the strong Kronos branch. I think some of these updates have made it upstream(?) of yaba-sanshiro and thus reflect much better emulation.

devmiyax is the author of yabasanshiro, he forked it from yabause after getting some of his PR to yabause rejected (iirc), main features for this fork are dynarecs for arm/aarch64 cpus and a gles3 renderer => that's what you want on SBC & phones FCare (François) is the author of kronos, he forked it from yabasanshiro after getting some of his PR to yabasanshiro rejected, main features are a cached interpreter and a modern gl renderer => that's what you want on pc

@KN4THX said in Sega 6 button controller mapping (with shoulders):

      That runs pretty good

The videos are using my libretro port of yabasanshiro, i would recommend using the standalone version instead : due to how standalone works, i couldn't get an important feature speed-wise (async rendering) to work in the libretro core.

@TheRetroGamer They're poorly made. I bought a pair for $8US and noticed they used thin wires for the L/R buttons when I was modding one by replacing the shell and buttons from a real snes pad. Re-soldering using the same wires made them give ghost inputs or not work. I replaced them with thicker wires and seems to work for now.

A long term solution would be buying a real super famicom or snes pad and then using a usb adapter. I don't have a usb adapter to tell you which ones work on retropie.

@mitu welp, you solved my problem. So emulationstation if launched from c:\programfiles\emulationstation\emulationstation.exe it is v2.9.0RP-DEV which works fine. I originally set it to install in D:\emulationstation so the exe in that location launches v2.0.1A which I just realized I accidentally deleted my desktop exe and then went to that location to grab it again. Dont know why there are 2 locations but v2.0.1A is what causes a problem. Somehow when typing this I went to 2.9.0 without thinking to check the version and then just closed it but every time I tried to use a controller I was launching v2.0.1. Sorry and thank you ._.

Going to leave this up unless mods wanna delete it cause maybe others might make a dumb mistake like me.

If your Xbox One controller supports Bluetooth, you don't need a wireless adapter. I think newer models (after 1708 ?) have Bluetooth by default, but you can check your controller model for BT support.

If I install a fresh image of retropie will my roms remain or do I have to back them up and re upload them?

A fresh image will have only RetroPie, no ROMs are included in the image. You'll have to back them up if you like to keep your existing files.
