      You can try reconfiguring your controller in EmulationStation; this should rewrite the RetroArch autoconfig including the hotkey-enable function. If that doesn't work, however...

      @retroprestoz said in Start button exits games without pressing select as well.:

      A buddy of mine just put it together for me to use some I'm not exactly sure what he did or all of the config files and stuff.

      Unfortunately, neither are we.

      It is not practical to troubleshoot a system that neither you nor we have any idea how is configured. For that reason, third-party builds are not supported in any capacity.

      Start here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/#installation

      I suggest you to backup your roms and configs, and then install the current latest official image for your hardware from https://retropie.org.uk/download.

      Restore your backed-up roms but not the configs yet -- you can cherry-pick them later but if you blindly copy them all, the one that's causing your issue will come along with the rest of them.

      What is the line in the retroarch.cfg (s) that will force a controller to left analog?

      @duglor set this (and all other retroarch settings) via the configuration editor: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Configuration-Editor/

      it's in the basic settings menu - you can see it in the screenshots

      I know another user made it work by installing the newer driver on the RetroPie image (see here).

      For pairing, the 1st pairing option should always work, there's no need to try the other options. After it's paired, can you run

      cat /proc/bus/input/devices

      and post the output ? It should show if the gamepad is detected as an input device.

      My 8bitdo Ultimate Wireless 2.4ghz controller with updated firmware also didn't work on the latest RetroPie image.
      But I was able to make it work only after updating driver packages --> I noticed that xpad had update.

      @psun03 read https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/szlxkz/i_want_2_controllers_active_on_port_1/

      A somehow recent version of retroarch is required, so make sure you are using the latest version available on retropie.

      Yeah, it looks like I assumed the official doc was still the page I needed to check. I was able to find that now (although it was a bit confusing since those are two different things...settings vs controls). However, it's working now.

      But now I'm wondering about something. None of the other emulators that use the six-button controllers require me to force the six-button settings in the Retroarch core first (or at least the Sega-based ones). With core remapping, I'm able to get them to cooperate. Would there be any benefit to turning on six-button in the other cores (where core remapping is already working fine)?

      Hello,

      Is this ok in 2025 ?

      I want to buy a Dualsense for my Retropie-4.8.9 Bookworm Lite on Pi5 and I want to know if it works today, or if tricks are needed to connect a dualsense in bluetooth.

      Thanks

      @chicoputo cool to see this helped someone else, somthing additional that might be be helpful.

      if you re-map the controls you need to reapply the fix.

      not sure what but somthing happens that causes it to default back to error state

      @TheIronCorpse That'll work fine. Pretty sure its BT aswell, so you can use it wireless. It also works with the Nintendo Switch, Windows & Android devices. I have the predecessor
      (and about 7 other 8Bitdo controllers..).

      @Rinusch thanks again for rephrasing despite my clear lack of understanding. You did right by raising a ticket directly. Somehow I'm still convinced your issue is related to the one I've mentioned earlier about the custom controls. Anyhow thanks for your patience.

      On Amiberry, it looks like I don't have access to all the buttons on my gamepad for CD32.
      Can someone do a test with Chambers Of Shaolin and tell me if he is able to punch and kick?

      @StoqnS14
      Have you tried installing the Nintendo Switch controller drivers as mentioned in the Docs page?
      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Nintendo-Switch-Controllers/

      The sensitivity / input range without that driver is not enough to recreate the full tilt range of N64 sticks.
