      Imagine It, you have a local or a pub and you want your clients to enjoy using your retro console but of course you want a legit benefit.

      Imagine you buy an actual arcade with licensed games - you can use a Real ™ coin acceptor, like in the old days.

      @zerojay said in M.A.M.E. 0.61 SDL [DEV] - Beta3.3:

      From a packaging/scriptmodule perspective, this doesn't change anything for me, but that's really cool.

      The current SDL Image library available on Raspbian is an old version that use an old libpng version with a bug. In order to use HD artwork you need to compile libpng and SDL Image from source and in sequence.

      So, download these archives, libpng-libpng16.zip and SDL2_image-2.0.5.zip, and copy them in

      /home/pi

      then run these commands from terminal:

      LIBPNG

      unzip libpng-libpng16.zip cd libpng-libpng16/ ./configure make sudo make install sudo ldconfig

      SDL IMAGE

      unzip SDL2_image-2.0.5.zip cd SDL2_image-2.0.5/ mkdir build cd build ../configure make -j3 sudo make install sudo ldconfig

      @Clyde said in Storing ROMs and other data on a remote drive:

      You can set it in the file /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_settings.cfg via the line <bool name="ParseGamelistOnly" value="true" />.

      Finally got around to try that out. I didn't notice any real difference in starting time. It spends 80%-ish of the EmulationStation load screen with "Loading system config". The total time from console to be in the UI is ~1 minute regardless if ParseGamelistOnly is set to true or false.

      It might be my setup, because there's no es_settings.cfg file available so I had to create it myself:

      <?xml version="1.0"?> <bool name="ParseGamelistOnly" value="true" />

      @mitu might be easier to take the amiberry route and use the generated retroarch configs.

      Works with existing configs then and will be more reliable.

      @ElRafilla It's not exactly the same issue - the poster didn't have any video output, you seem to have it working until launching a game. Open a new topic and add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

      @inolen one more question...is it possible to make save input for a specific game or a specific button to switch from gamepad to axis controler. The problem is mainly that I'm also using two Hori Fight Sticks mini 4, so there is only a stick (gamepad) :) In some games there is the main controler the axis or gamepad. So every time I want to play a different game I have to reconfigure the controller from axis to gamepad or vice versa.

      This is just a wish (feature?:) )...nothing more :) If it's to complicate to implement or configure then don't bother :)

      Thank you again for your QUICK and mostly EFFECTIVE anwsers :)

      Is it possible to compile emulationstation without video preview feature, and thus without the need of VLC libraries ?

      No, you'll have to modify the sources to remove the VLC dependency. Or use the original project's sources from EmulationStation.org, which doesn't have the video feature included.

      @mitu said in Retro-Bit Sega Mega Drive/Genesis 2.4 GHz Wireless Controller incompatible/issues:

      Start the gamepad in a different 'mode' and see if the button is recognized as a gamepad input.

      I have found 6 different wireless modes:

      Key Mode LEDs Y Switch Strobe X Mac 3,4 Z ? 2,3 A Android 1 B D-Input 3 C ? 1,3

      Switch pairs and is recognised as a controller in configure input, but holding down a button doesn't do anything, so I can't bind anything.

      Mac mode, holding down home shows 'keyboard' but when I go in to key binding it lets me bind the home button. It doesn't let me bind the Z and C buttons.

      Z,A,B,C mode all have the same issue with the home button as described above.

      There is a wired X-Input mode (LED 2) which allows me to bind all buttons but I can't figure out if there's a wireless version of this.

      There is a wired PS3 mode which also allows me to bind all buttons, but I also can't figure out how to get it to pair wirelessly in this mode.

      Is there no way to manually bind whatever keyboard button it thinks it is?

      Is this a bug with anything else, or a fundamental issue with the hardware?

      @StigNasty said in Another total noob question:

      Two questions: 1. What does this mean? 2. How do I do this?

      It means you've been using a development branch of the RetroPie-Setup script and that branch (version) will be deleted, so you'll not be able to update in the future.

      From the command line, execute the following:

      cd $HOME/RetroPie-Setup git reset --hard git checkout master

      OR

      cd $HOME sudo rm -fr ./RetroPie-Setup git clone https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup

      personally, if i was doing this i would make a fork in github with my changes, and then edit the retropie build script to point at it, then compile it through retropie - update via source.

      eg https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/emulators/mupen64plus.sh#L32

      if i made a change to the master branch of my fork of mupen64plus-core, i would this line to
      'dankcushions core'

      note that when you edit retropie scripts the script updater will complain when you come to update it.
