For the Nes I discovered Fire and Ice on emulation, I wish I bought that game back in the day. Not for the sake of the value, but just pure for the gameplay.
      It's a great puzzle game if you're interested ;)

@Ecks said in PI3+ and gamecube Emulator:

I know i am a little late on this but having a PC that has 2.56GHz and 8GB of memory you need a good GPU as well because i have an old system which is using a Athlon 5350 with 8gb memory and a HD 7750 and i am able to emulate Gamecube and PS2 games perfectly fine and also the Athlon 5350 is clocked in at 2.05GHz quad core which is why i believe if they would make a Pi 4 it should be able to handle 2.5D PS2/Gamecube games and higher graphic mame games without any problems.

I'll admit cpu frequency is not the most accurate indicator, you would need more proper benchmark, however :

it seems your Athlon 5350 @2.05 Ghz actually has better single thread performance than my pentium N3710 @2.56Ghz at the same cpu frequency, i expect an arm cpu to be slower than a x86 cpu (i always heard the old rpi1@700Mhz was roughly equivalent to an old pentium2@400Mhz in terms of single thread performance) your expectations are way too high about the gpu for the next raspberry, even if the future VC5 was any good, i doubt it would outperform the desktop class gpu included in my pentium N3710

      @gs4l

The Raphnet adapters are the best. However, the analog triggers on Gamecube controllers have a few issues that are difficult to overcome outside of Windows. The triggers reach their full range of movement half way down and anything past that reads as movement in the other direction. Also there is some, for lack of a better term, bleeding of the analog input that reads as if it's coming from the thumbsticks.

Both these issues are dealt with in the Raphnet Adapter Management Tool. However, I believe the software is Windows only. I've been able to solve both these issues with xboxdrv in RetroPie, but it's not straightforward. In fact, as much as I love using my Wavebird on RetroPie, I'd advise against using a Gamecube controller here unless you really want to dive into the weeds to get the job done.

@landyvlad said in Same game, different systems - does it matter?:

      Thanks to both of you.

The game is an FPS called XIII (highly recommended) I used to play it on PC hopefully will be just as good on RP, as I can;t find it for PC anywhere . I'm not sure which of those categories it fall sin (ie written for one and ported to the other, or multi-platform).

But yeah I kinda figured the answer would be try em both and see.... :)

      cheers

I still have that on XBox, although I haven't played it for years. Good game.

@ScienceGamer004 But, in all fairness to emulators "like GameCube", another answer could be YES, the Pi3 running RetroPie DOES let you add many MANY emulators "like GameCube", but simply not GameCube, as it would be too slow for that. Insomuch as the GameCube is "like" the NES (both are home consoles, albeit vastly different generations), depending on your needs, the Pi3 is a great option.

No not on a raspberry pi. You can run it on an x86 build however.

That said, there is a dolphin port for arm cpus. However it only runs on top of the line smart phones at the moment. Give it several years and the pi 6 or 7 might be able to run it.

@cdm5751 Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (as agreed when registering).

There is no gamecube or ps2 emulator for the rpi3 and it's way beyond the capabilities of the RPI.

A PC with a Core i CPU (and a Nvidia videocard) should be the best solution. The most arm boards are to slow for GameCube emulation.

If you want the dolphin emulator, install steam on your pc. Steam link on your pi. Add the dolphin emulator to steam. You can stream dolphin emulator from your pc via steam link to a raspberry pi. Steam link is in the expirimental section.

@tebra said in Has anyone Gotten the Mayflash Gamecube Adapter to work with Retropie?:

      Is it possible by N: Name="Wii U GameCube Adapter Port 1" and N: Name="Wii U GameCube Adapter Port 2".

Sadly no. Those do not actually point to the events.

if I reboot the rpi3 without my keyboard the event number will change. I'm right?

I believe you're right. However, it might help to rearrange the order of your devices in relation to the USB slots to where the keyboard is always seen last.

@benjamin great build there! I'm looking at doing something similar myself - as has been said before it's perfect due to the built-in fan and plenty of space.

Can I ask what version GameCube you used for the donor? I have an older version which has the separate power regulator board - I'm planning on taking 5v and 3.3v direct from this but haven't done any testing yet to be sure it'll work.
