ok, I returned my SD card and i am starting all over. i googled it and now i am wondering if my microSD is not compatible.

it is: lexar 16gb high-performance 300x microSDHC UHS-I (uhs-1?)

says it is a class 10. LSDMI16GBB1NL300A

There is one UHS-I that isnt compatible on this page: http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards

but it says it is an SDXC and mine is an SDHC. i cant find the exact product code on the list but there a couple of close ones and i would rather just return this one now than muck this one up too.

@herb_fargus i have looked in the Docs page and i have looked alot of other places to get it on my internal HHD but i have found nothing

I confirm that every retropie update through script needs reinstall of em-kids

I set my desktop to 640x480 and now there is black bars on the left and right. Possibly because ntsc is 720x480? This is better though as the image isn't squished anymore.

EDIT: That did it. 720x480 with a render resolution of 640x480 gives me a full 4:3 picture in moonlight. Cheers.

just reinstalled retropie... SOLVED!

Update on this. I was able to get this to work with previous images, and the ones I made off my disc. I had to wipe my SD card and completely re install Retropie 4.2 from scratch. I am not exactly sure, but maybe something did not update properly when I updated from a previous build.

@shingouki i cant find anything on the web about hdmi_edid_file=1. Can you tell me what it is used for?

Things are rarely this simple, but are you sure that you made the script executable?

chmod +x /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/game.sh

Also, seeing as how you're simply launching DOSBox with your script, does the included /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/+Start\ DOSBox.sh not suffice?

@COOL_IRON either ffmpeg didn't compile or you didn't compile RetroArch with ffmpeg

@simonster for the record though lakka does have wifi integrated now and it can be configured through xmb but retropie is obviously going to have more of a selection

Can you upload it or link me to a different location? Mega doesn't seem to be working for me in any browser :/

@x5PUDx If you already have the latest Retropie version build, then doing an update using "update all installed packages" should not mess up anything.
