I just came across this issue and I fixed it by doing exactly what mediamogul said. Thank you. Do not press escape to exit the menu, select "exit to game over". After the game booted up, I exited using "hotkey" + exit and the settings stuck.

I use AdvanceMAME, although I believe the game will work in any of the RetroArch cores from 2010 on.

ive already fixed this for myself for mame and mame2003+ i just made a gamelist from the dats of mame2003 and 2003+

@caver01 i'm unable to test either but if mame2010 does something different i could look into it, but i would have thought it wouldn't be respecting the api if it did anything different!

Based on bitmaps from game flyer and other original artwork.
Only the logo was converted to SVG as the rest of the images are already very good quality.
Mainly a matter of finding the right artwork, cutting out and positioning the single images.

Ressurecting this topic because I noticed that after I upgraded to RPi 4.5 that the speed cheat in Ms pac-man stopped working altogether. I checked the inputs on the TAB menu and button B isn't listed there. There are no dipswitch settings for it, either. I am curious if this is a driver change or if it's something that got broken in the update?

@obsidianspider hmm i would guess that it's in the .cfg file, which would be
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/mame2003/cfg/gamename.cfg
or
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/mame2003/cfg/gamename.cfg
depending on where your rom is.

And yet 2 years later, I just needed to accomplish the same and found that the key is to quickly hit <del> two times (like a 'double' click).
This really resets the selected input to 'none'.
