      Bringing back a dead thread. Has anyone had more luck with using a Zero or Zero W for RetroPie? I want to get a second Pi for gaming, the one I have has been turned into an openHAB box, so I was looking for a cheap way to do it. I would have to dl the new RetroPie as the one I have is over a year old and has been sitting on a stored away microSD card for over a year.

      I would like to play PSX games if possible, so I might have to get a pi3, but if I can do it on a Zero, that would be great. We will be mostly playing 16-bit and older games.

      I also haven't used a Zero for anything yet, just a couple pi3's, so if there are any other issues with them, please let me know.

      Let me know if this is way to low a priority or if I should put it in Ideas section.

      I was looking over the code for [OMX](lhttps://github.com/ricrpi/mupen64plus-audio-omx/blob/master/src/main.c the commit volum section is commented out, saying it doesn't work with Raspberry Pi. I was poking around and it looks like the omx player for raspberry pi which uses OMX as well does support volume control. That code looks to be in C++ instead of C, but has similarities in terms of populating the struct and setting it omxErr = OMX_SetConfig(OMX_Handle, OMX_IndexConfigAudioVolume, &volumeConfig);

      That line is from omxplayer
      line 812

      Any chance OMX was update for RPi and this plugin wasn't aware? My C/C++ skills are out of date especially with linux, so I would not know how to properly get all the source needed to build, make the change. Sadly I have used too much Visual Studio and Windows development. Code would have to be commented out, and also added to call the commented code to increase / decrease.

      Olde Core2Duo MacMini 2009 remains the best. It still runs all modern stuff, does decent N64 including upscaling to 1920x1200 and it is easy to configure and boots nice (with space invader replacing the apple off course).

      That was very easy and worked perfectly. Did see some improvements (and still some issues and even regression issues) so I know it worked.
      I always just assumed the update from source was only liberto items / core retropie stuff. Thanks!

      @Shakz will try...

      Edit: Aha, there seems to ONLY be an issue with the N64 emulator. I had mapped by triggers and shoulder buttons wrong, so that is fixed now. It works on all emulators but the N64 one - which is unfortunate considering that's the one I use the most.

      Edit 2: It works now?! It just doesn't display the text that indicates that a save state has been saved / loaded / selected! There is still the fact that Majora's Mask lags when NPCs are in the area, but that's something I can live with for now. Thank you for your help!

      @markyh444 First, let me apologize if I came off as needy or rude. I was having trouble locating the information I wanted, or had trouble understanding it I guess would be a better way of putting it.

      Secondly, I would like to thank you for all of your advice and assistance. I think I finally figured out what I am doing. Turns out I understand things when I see it on my Windows desktop and just needed to edit information there instead of trying to do it on the Retropie (not sure if that makes sense).

      Lastly, I want to say that I FINALLY got the buttons mapped how I wanted them in N64 and this also gives me information on how to do it in other emulators should I choose to do so.

      Thanks a lot for sticking with me!

      Exactly right. If this were ever integrated into RetroPie it would have to be the x86 version.

      Thank you for your answers. I've tried to use another emulator (mupen64plus-gles2n64) and it works fine ! It does not works with retroarch, so i will have to configure the controller, but i guess this is not really a problem. I'm sorry, i posted this too soon.

      @Blaze said in N64 highres with shader?:

      mupen64plus-GlideN64-highres

      not a libretro (lr-) emulator, so can't use libretro shaders.

      If I use the lr-glupen64 emulator then the shader is applied but the resolution is reduced to 320x240 (why on earth is this hard-coded?!)

      because many n64 games have performance issues on the pi even at this resolution.

      it can be changed, it's a retroarch core option
