Because every game needs a different amount to play the fmv, there's no real sweet spot to set it at. At the time I had it at 250, which gave it a good amount of rewind but clearly was too much for the games I mentioned. Some of them could only take about 50 which is not enough rewind.
The only solution I recommend is to turn it off when an fmv plays then turn it back on when it's over

@GreenHawk84 said in PSX Gamelist 0B?:

To anyone reading this, back up your image with a 2nd SD card, or at least copy your gamelists/roms/downloaded_images to a PC. This is really critical if you spent a ton of time perfecting your build.

I use to backup all relevant files to my smartphone.
This gives you the option to have all these files & folders ready anywhere and anytime :D

Wanted to close this off after I thought about how I wanted to organize this.

    Here's what I've done.

I converted all the .bin files into .chd files to save on a little bit of space all around. In roms/psx/ I created a hidden .chd folder where I have subfolders for each game and their respective .chd or .CDX files. In roms/psx/ I have a several .m3u files, one for each game, that each point to the .chd directory, and the individual game folder where the relevant game files are located. This allows me to keep the roms/psx/ relatively clean which is what I was going for.

I really appreciate everyone's help in getting me to clean up the roms directory!

@mitu Removing the overclock didn't help unfortunately. Here's the rest of the info to the best of my ability

Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4B
Power Supply used: CanaKit 3.5A Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply (USB-C)
    RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
Built From: Pre made SD image from raspberry pi imager v1.6.2
    USB Devices connected: None
Controller used: 8bitdo Pro 2 (connected with bluetooth
    Error messages received: N/A
    Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
    Guide used: N/A
    File: N/A
    Emulator: N/A
    Attachment of config files: https://pastebin.com/BKrPS3Z5
How to replicate the problem: Connect RPi4 to CRT, test output using 2nd color bleed check in 240p test suite Mega Drive ROM (press A once on color bleed check).

If someone could replicate the test on their own device I would really appreciate that. I have a feeling it might be like this on all Pis and has just gone unnoticed by most people.

@damiorc it looks like your game rom is invalid. you’re using psx and ps2 interchangeably, which may have something to do with it; they’re separate systems with separate emulators and roms.

please post the whole log and all the requested info.

@kjf1138 said in No audio during debriefing in 007 Racing:

I have a raspberry pi 4 and I’m using PCSX-Rearmed on Retropie. When I play 007 Racing, there is no audio during the debriefing segments, but there is audio during gameplays and pre-render cutscenes. I’m away from my raspberry pi so I can’t provide a log yet, but I’m curious if anyone had this issue and was able to solve it? All the other PSX games work flawlessly on PCSX-Rearmed.

I can confirm this issue. As a solution you can use the lr-duckstation, the game doesn't have this problem here.

If you don't have this emulator you can install it with the @Darksavior script from this topic: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/32400/lr-duckstation-disappear/15?_=1650130438003 ,or with @ExarKunIv RetroPIe-Extra : https://github.com/Exarkuniv/RetroPie-Extra .

Got this fixed. I skipped mapping the left/right trigger buttons (for some reason, the right one always ends up setting the left joystick button to the same thing as well). Once I did this, the controls started working properly.

@stealthbushido increasing resolution via launch menu won't help PSX - the underlying emulator renders at a resolution set internally. you can adjust it via: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#video-double-internal-resolution

alternatively you can apply shaders: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Shaders-and-Smoothing/- i say alternatively, because you wouldn't want CRT shaders AND double resolution, as by doubling the resolution you would ruin the scanline effect and it would look a mess. however the video smoothing effect would be fine to apply.

@dankcushions Thanks a lot for the replies and for this last tip. I've learned a lot with this thread (core options are always saved if modified in-game, I should not mess with them xD, a way to revert them back to defaults...).

@dankcushions cause they delete it. They said it's not their business and not care about, send me back ask here - very friendly $-)

But, anyway it does not have any matter. I use overclocking ps1 cpu in options and play NFS3 at 60 frames at all stages ( when it goes at 30-40 by default).
But couldn't understood how it work - maybe it's turning on some frameskip like?

@mtlhd1011 said in Psx emulator controls not working:

@dankcushions I can understand that. Maybe a link to the bios section after mentioning it briefly in the first installation section would be helpful I think, kind of like it does with the roms. I didn't realize the bios were proprietary as well, so mentioning that somewhere would help first timers like me understand that better too I think. Thanks for the info, I saw the location section but thought maybe it was something that has to be installed as a program (thinking computer bios) vs. a file drop. I'll see if I can find it and get it going.

I also have an additional question related to my new install. I have one of those nespi+ cases with the fan on it. I was reading their scripts don't work right anymore with the new version of RetroPie. Is that true? I saw someone made a work around with some generic code, but I don't understand it fully.

Update on this, I copied over the bios for each of the emulators that were on my machine previously. Once I did that it broke my PSX emulator again. What I found was that there were a few bios on there that were not supported by the version of the rearmed emulator it currently uses. So I think it picked a bad bios which broke functionality. Once I pulled those unsupported bios from the folder, it functions normally once again. This must've been what happened when I updated my system previously. I also see commodore 64 is broken currently too, probably the same thing there I'll need to dig into. I did manage to get the nespi-case script installed also, I will monitor it to see if that portion has issues.

Alrighty! I'll keep playing normally, i'll install duckstation just to see it working
    Thanks!

    Additional notes:
I installed the duckstation core, i tried playing the game there and swapping discs works perfectly, although it doesn't recognize the CD1 or CD2 extension i had to rename them as .cue files again and change the m3u to reflect the changes

@mitu I did indeed configure my controller when I first booted up. Had to re-do it a few times because I was having issues with the blue tooth. I guess I must have mucked something up when I re-configured my controller, because I went back to re-configure my input from the emulationstation ui just to make sure, and now the problem is fixed, I feel like such a dope for not trying this, thanks.

@bdpyle Word of advice - don't use 'Reset Configuration' in RetroArch, the defaults it creates are not best suited for a Pi/RetroPie installation.
