So a bit of an update. Since I was no longer using my RPi3 (I had ordered a XU4) I decided to experiment with it (the RPi3) more than I had before and I installed Lakka on it, and it worked perfectly. Out of the box the games look amazing and the (few) that I have tried, both SNES and PS1 have run perfectly.

This tells me that there isn't a problem with the pi, the power supply or the sd card, its just something different in the versions/configuration in RetroPie. For clarity sake, I always installed RetroPie from official builds, and tried multiple times, always trying to use it with out of the box defaults first.

I gave the RPi3 away, so I can no longer test with it (the XU4 runs circles around it) but it is good to know that it was at least capable of running the emulators that I thought it wasn't.

I have not put RetroPie on the XU4 yet, I am trying to get a decent set of benchmarks (games that run smoothly in Lakka) to compare.

Ok... I think I know what's happening, and If I'm correct I'm a completly dumbass xD
It seems that key taps are recognized and considered even in loading screen. With gamepad in hand (xbox 360), I usually tap A button repeatedly (an impatient one here...). It happens that the first emu in menu is the amiga one, and the first entry in Amiga's rooms is UAE4ALL, so, that's it. It's my "A" taps in loading screen that launch uae4all when screen becomes operative.
      Yep... totally dumbass xD

Anyway, if I'm not a dumbass after all and the issue happens again (without "A" tapping :-P ) I'll let you know.
      Thanks and regards!

@rak7145 said in RetroPie won't boot on Raspberry Pi 3:

I encountered an error numerous times that said Etcher couldn't locate the disk

I haven't had this happen myself though it's possible there's something up with your SD card/ SD card reader. There are lots of shady eBay SD sellers, I try and stick with reputable sources, if you have another microsd laying around might be worth trying and if for some reason it's etcher you can try win32diskimager instead to rule that out as well though I personally have never had issues with etcher.

If above fails also try diff HDMI if possible but I wouldn't necessarily go buying all sorts of new hardware until I've tried every software fix.

Yes in the end I decided to get a snes-style USB controller, and it seems to be working a treat!

@devin_205 Do you have an USB stick you can use for the transfer? Then use the USB method described in the link @isrnick gave you. It should be the easiest way if you have problems transferring roms over the network.

it says cant upload a psx rom

Please describe exactly what you did and give us the exact error message(s).

@Dwarfboysim I only had problems when trying to scrape PSX media. After scouring the internet i found this scraper to be the best.

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19588/skyscraper-now-officially-part-of-retropie-please-test

It will get you Cover art, disk art and video previews.

Just make sure to read the tut carefully. It can be installed via the rasp-setup but it can only be ran once emulation station has been aborted/quit.

You can either SSH/Use keyboard on pie to run it.

Nope, none of those ips are mine. Looks like it’s trying to connect to different servers but seems to fail. It was a stock image used from berry boot and updated through apt-get. I did have an open port on my router to acess it away from the house. I was previously running raspberry stretch and realized I was unable to load retropie on it (well easily anyways) so I did a fresh install and left the port open without changing the password before setting up roms first.. I forgot the port was open as on the stretch I changed the password and user already. So I’m assuming someone is rolling through ips on port 22 and default user and passwords seeing what they can connect to. I’m curious as to what was involved in this malware if that was the case.

@carnagepie781 Depends. You haven't shared ANY details about your setup. You could be running the fastest, misconfigured PC, or a Raspbery Pi Zero. We have no idea, so anyone that replies has to make a LOT of assumptions. Please read the forum rules and post the required details from here.

@ironj679 Hmm. That seems rather suspect to me. The Pi needs the config.txt to know all of its boot settings. How did you build your software setup? Those details are a prerequisite for posting questions here anyway. You should be starting with the official download of the retropie image, and it definitely has a /boot/config.txt.
