    @jdrassa I'm on lunch break in a couple of hours, so I can do it then, or it will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow.

    @Capeman As good as it did, for sure, but never as good as you remember it through the nostalgia filter :)
    I tried to play again some old PSX 3D games that stunned the young me with beautiful graphics. All I can see now most of the time is a kind of giant pixel gang bang. :(

    I think I have added an option to disable video sounds a while ago. Could you check if it's not in one of the menus? I know options were changed around a while ago, but the should be one such option.

    Has there been any progress on this? I'm also interested in having video in the system view.

    @matchaman I have some holidays coming up over Easter, so I should hopefully be able to find some time to update the Create Your Own Theme tutorial to include video previews (among other things like the Carousel mod, folders and the <include> tag).

    First, I want to finish my theme, and the art upload, once done... I don't know.

    @jwcbronski Thanks.

    It was effectively a very ad hoc trial and error approach to coming up with something that would be similar, as they use drastically different volume ranges and settings.

    I hope this one works best. Feel free to keep using this version of ES for the time being, and whenever this gets merged to the stable branch you can use it.

    Thanks!

    @straughton if everything is up to date and you also updated the carbon theme, something in your game list does not match. Is the M in .mp4 real capitalized in your file type? I am not at my computer or pi, but I believe .mp4 is usually all lower case. Check to be sure the file path and name match perfectly including capitals. I also believe that in mine, my path is simply ./downloads/crazy taxi.mp4
    The game list should pull from location the .XML is located, so if your game list is in the same folder as your download folder, you don't need the full path.

    @pjft 1. Yup, i have that all resolved on my arcade build with the screensaver ES. I am running a 320 spit with my VRAM at 120 and it works perfectly. So no real issues for me, if i share the theme, people who have not updated may experience lag or white screen if they don't read the instructions to update the split and VRAM. Issue seems to be resolved without modifications on the new ES - not worth your time to deal with this.
    2. Probably not worth your time. It is an issue for sure, but mostly a backwards compatibility issue. I can build it on my screensaver ES and update it on my Main Branch ES - the only issue will be backwards compatibility, it might breaks some peoples themes if they are running outdated ES builds.
    3. Understood! No need for you to waste time on this. I think what would be the best result would be trying to get @fieldofcows with your modifications OMX option and Screensaver stuff to the main branch! I love how there is simply an option to turn OMX on or off, as well as the screen savers. Really this update gives ultimate flexibility and allows you to run the Main Branch and then turn on and off the updates! i know you guys are both busy....so i will cross my fingers for future incorporation.

    Thanks again for all your hard work and responses!

    @herb_fargus Sselph's scraper supports video scraping from screenscraper.fr. I've recently submitted a patch that transcodes videos to a more Raspberry Pi friendly format. This needs HandBrakeCLI and is not advisable to run on the Pi unless you like it melting through the floor. I got into the habit of running sselph's scraper on my own linux machine (mac should work too I guess) and then copying the resulting files to my Pi after it's done.

    @Pupsenlalala I see UXS populated your <Video> tag... but with a wrong extension. (jpg)

    Try to put "Default" in Configuration/Advanced/Image configuration Menu.
    It will solve your problem.

    (Need to put that on default config :S )

    @pjft Thanks! Dream come true with this one. Installed and everything appears to be working great. I love the screen saver, the temps are running nicely and i have not issues with screen savers, text, or video previews. One item that is not a big deal and I solved for my build is the volume level of the screensaver videos compared to the volume of the video previews and actual games. I had to set my system volume to 92% in order to make the game and preview audio align with the screen saver audio. Originally the screen saver audio was playing about 2 times my game audio and it blew me away!
    Another thought to add to what I am sure is a very long list of wants and desires of many is the ability to have a custom screen saver/single screensaver. My thought here is that you keep the random video screen saver the way it is, but can you add another option that would run a video from a designated folder? We could then create a custom screen saver video, or simply put your favorite video in a folder location and only that video would play. I am thinking it would be fun to have a custom video i would create in adobe after affects similar to what we can do for the custom splash screens. - Anyways, like I said, that is a wish list item and by no means an immediate need or fix.

    Thank you for your hard work and to @fieldofcows for this addition to ES!

    Edit: @pjft Any thoughts on how this build of ES 0.6-ssctl might react to the new retropie 4.2? I am assuming that when i run the update all it will load the base ES and i will then go back in and replace with 0.6-ssctl. Just wondering if you have any thoughts before i give it a try. Thanks

    @TMNTturtlguy You're right.

    In that case, my best advice is to do what I had done before I started this and fieldofcows added the OMXPlayer experiment, which is to batch convert all videos to 480x360@30fps using Handbrake or equivalent.

    Works like a charm! :)

    You may save yourself some time if you can somehow know beforehand which of your videos are of higher resolution, or higher fps so you don't convert all.

    A note: obviously I'm biased, but I've been using my build as the main ES for the past few weeks with no real issues, so I'd be the first to recommend it :D But yes, of course there may be unforeseen problems, though it's mostly fieldofcows' code - just a few tweaks on top. If you do test it out, let us all know! Just don't use themes with overlays with the experimental player, as it doesn't support overlays on top, if that's a problem for you. :)

    Best!

    @ferhound is it hard to understand that you're asking about something that's completely not related to the topic at hand, which dates back from 2017, and try people are trying to help you based on what you initially stated ("when is this available") where you clearly didn't understand what the topic was about, and yet still expect people to have an answer for something that doesn't exist in RetroPie?

    Tone was not exactly deliberate, but really: @mitu is trying to help and so was I. If you don't do your homework or participate in a clearer manner, it's hard to help you better.

    You resurrected this topic, the answer you got relates to it. Don't expect that RetroPie users necessarily know what new features other projects have, so you will have to explain in more detail on occasion if you'd want to be effective at interacting here over non-RetroPie-specific topics. Not because we have anything against other projects, it's really that not a lot of people actually actively follow other very similar projects.

    Long story short: that feature as you described isn't available on RetroPie. If you do have documentation or links about it, though, and would want to share, I'm certainly curious about how they do it. It does look nice from your description.

    Best.
