    @roslof Ah OK, that was it! My version was just called "Bolo" and the crack was by Trystan II. Seemed to work fine except for the the joystick. When I tried the 4AM crack, it worked!

    Thanks!

    @dodonpachi said in Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man -- hold start for free credit:

    In games from the 90s and onward, this would bring up a menu where things like difficulty and pricing could be set.

    Some games on pacman hardware have a service menu, and i suppose no one wanted to make a precise list of those games so the diagnostic input ended up being hooked for all of them.

    @windg
    I think that should be fine, it was much older ones that had an issue:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/MAME/comments/fws0is/where_can_i_get_chdmanexe/

    The docs have info on how to use it and plenty of Youtube vids if you need them:

    So I did it again!

    I wanted a 2nd screen for pc repair so I was looking at portable LCD screens. I really liked the Sunfounder 10.1" IPS LCD since it will run off a 5v/3a battery pack with the USB adapter.

    I took a shot at a $100 USD eBay Buy It Now since it had a picture of a Pi 4 actually installed (and also a stock picture stating Pi not included) but the title mentioned 2GB for memory... the screen alone went for that much so no great loss if it didn't have it.

    Well it did have a Pi4 and a 32GB SD card as well. Absolutely a fabulous package deal!

    So NOW I have a 5th RetroPie setup and my 2nd portable one. I paired an XBox One Bluetooth controller I had lying around and I am loving it!

    @raspberrycoulis i think almost every game exhibits some kind of visual bug with the speed hack on, hence the note in: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#video-double-internal-resolution - actually even without the speedhack some games can break with double resolution (doom is an example)

    a blacklist for the games that are unplayable with it on is not a bad idea - could be implemented in a similar way to mupen64plus.sh

    @rasp_renegade said in Good themes for vertical arcade cabinet:

    I think I saw these but there is nothing to download just a bunch of links with flat files . ??? How do I download them and how would I add to ES?

    @rasp_renegade looks like these aren't in the theme installer, so you'll have to clone them manually off the GitHub. Plug in a keyboard and press F4 to exit EmulationStation, or remote in from your favorite SSH client (I use the Termius app on my phone, or just type ssh pi@retropie.local in the search bar on my Win10 PC to use its built-in client. Connect as user "pi" to server "retropie.local", and the password is "raspberry" if you haven't changed it yet. You'll be presented with a security certificate the first time you connect to/from a particular pair, go ahead and accept this so you may continue.)

    Either way, you should now be at a command prompt now that looks like:

    pi@retropie:~ $

    Use the following commands to create and navigate to the themes directory and clone the GitHub repository there, using the first one as an example:

    mkdir -p ~/.emulationstation/themes cd ~/.emulationstation/themes git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/losernator/es-theme-ssimple-ve ssimple-ve

    Adding the second "ssimple-ve" at the end clones it into that directory instead of one called after the repo with "es-theme-" in front. You can call it something else, if you want. Whatever you write after the repo URL will be the directory it's cloned into and that will be the name that's used in EmulationStation.

    After it downloads, just type exit to either leave the terminal and return to ES, or to terminate the SSH session (or you can just close the app/window). You should now be able to select the theme ssimple-ve in ES's options menu (I can't remember, you might need to restart it first, if you were remoted in.)

    @Eldrethor
    After trying to get retropie set up on my raspberry pi 4
    i think i got a hang of the gamepad configuring, I just tap the buttons and bump the joysticks. i got a wire BYEBUG controller which i never heard of and a wire Powera controller and all work. But i think i get clever by getting bluetooth, less wire hassle

    @windg recent MAME will emulate this game (with glitches), it's extremely unlikely to run full speed or even at a playable speed on a pi4 though

    I've now managed to get this working with the standard Retropie 4.8 image on a Raspberry Pi 4b!

    OP updated with the new instructions!

    The full process is quite some work and not tested together with other emulators. Updates to Mesa, SDL and FFmpeg are neccessary for Retropie 4.8.

    According to the answers (from the vendor) on the product page, it should work. However, based on the reviews received, I'd advise against buying it.

    FM Towns is the best but the most difficult to find and dump.

    All of my Scummvm purchases came from Steam though.

    If you watch out for sales, you can get most of them for just $1 to $2 each.

    Edit:
    There's options in Scumm for text, speech and sound if you have a preferred method to play these.
