I confirm the behavior for Mario Kart Double Dash.

In your other thread you seem to have found a solution for Mario Kart Double Dash. What exactly is the fix? Using that fork of dolphin or the Gecko codes you provided?

    Best,
    gandalth

The solution to get rid of the blue fog screen is to install the Ishiiruka version of dolphin....

    @dankcushions

    you're right, that's a quicker way of checking :-)

to answer your question, I was referring to per-game override configs that only contain a one line pointing to the overlay config (which in turn points to the graphics), if that makes sense.

I guess I'm wondering if there's some database somewhere of arcade games and what their joystick/button layout was. That will help me to know how many buttons I should plan for on each of the cabinets.

    https://www.waste.org/~winkles/ROMLister/

can filter by controller number, type, etc.

Was going to post an exact same discussion.

I have an X-Box controller, which is fine for some games but perhaps not for the few C64/Speccy games that I play, plus I have a couple of MAME titles that require a litte button bashing, Hypersports etc.

Is there a genral controller that covers all these bases??

@elvis said in Raspberry Pi OS 64bit version:

Definitely backs the choice of SDL without x11 as the preferred video output. Fairly similar upper bounds on each, despite no-video runs different by a scale of almost 3.

it's strange then the findings of @George in that thread - but maybe the retropie environment has an additional affect (again, we use a custom version of sdl)

Is there any comment on what future improvements to VC4/V3D drivers will bring to these speeds? Or are we seeing internal bandwidth limits here?

i would have thought the simple stuff like blitting to screen is about as good as it's ever going to be, but like i say, check out that thread - there may be a compounding issue for retropie. i'm currently building mame on my 64-bit x-less retropie install so will be able to test myself on some of these games. will be using ddp3 to try and recreate @George's findings.

(maybe we should continue this discussion there)

Got it! Swapped the ROM with the latest version, must update my romset, I'm afraid I'll break something though, my cabinet is 99.999% perfect :)

(And normally are when holding an adult beverage.)

    That's a reason for one-handed games that I didn't realise before! 😆

I'm sure you would've discovered that scenario during a gathering...whenever it's safe to have them again. I guess now is a good time to keep prepping for an eventual return to "normal".

(That bowling game I mentioned is a "pretty easy to pick up" game with decent graphics.)

I made an arcade cabinet using a PI 4. I included pinball flipper buttons on the side. Having a lot of fun with amiga pinball games (Pinball Dreams, Fantasies, Illusions, Slam Tilt, etc..) on lr-puae. These are not as realistic as virtual pinball, but are a lot of fun to play and give the real pinball vibe.

I also installed davids midnight magic with lr-vice. Still a fun game to play real memory lane game for the c64.

On lr-pcsx2-rearmed you can play several pinball games.

and the most realistic pinball simulators on the pi4 as far as i have seen are williams pinball classic and gottlieb pinball classics on ppsspp emulator.

    Genius !!!!

@wstanek That's a nice idea, but you have no way of downloading the database of information.

@jamrom2 Same with me in only having friends with a 2600. My own console was a Tchibo Tele-Fever, a rebranded Emerson Arcadia 2001. There was only one electronics shop in my whole city (population about 3 million!) that had games for this system after it was discontinued by the coffee roaster chain Tchibo after only some weeks or months. But that fact made the trips to buy a new game kind of a holy pilgrimage. 😆 And it made me actually read their manuals completely on my way home.

Yes, Activision made some of the best games of that era. One of my favourites was H.E.R.O. on the C64 which I played through until its "end" when you reached the maximum points the game could display (999,999?) and the score would turn to "!!!!!!" or something similar, I don't remember clearly after all those years. You could then send a photo of the screen to the publisher and get some goodies for it, but I never did that to my deepest regret up until this day. (I actually took the photo but never sent it in.)

edit: And I just learned that it only had 20 levels. I never noticed that! ðŸ˜ē ðŸĪŠ

I played Syndicate for a long time on my Amiga, it was one of my absolute favourites back then.

'twas never true. All Pi models have accelerated GPU rendering for video or OpenGL(ES) support under Raspbian (Raspberry Pi OS).

@victimrlsh I know it's meant to have a rotary with push-down for fire, with a separate single "grenade/enter tank" button in the middle of the panel.... so I did the best I could with my panel and it works fairly well.

I have a split two-player joystick setup... left joystick is set to be the player control, right joystick is the gun/turret position control. Directly below and next to the right joystick, I have two buttons for the old school "two-player" games. The button closest to the joystick I can hit with the base of my hand, or just point the joystick and drop down to fire continuously. So that became the "fire" button. The adjacent button is the "grenade/enter tank" button, which I can slap or hit quick with my other finger, then jump back on the joystick.. etc.

Also.... my Joysticks on this particular cabinet are original Wico leaf-button sticks. I tried using the newer cherry switch style buttons that I have on another cabinet.. but the feel is not the same.

If you need a pic, let me know.

Actually you CAN emulate the PS2 on the Pi 4, but the speed is abysmal and the legwork required is insane. The tl;dr version of the story is you need to install Windows 10 using Windows on Raspberry and run PCSX2. SOME games run at playable speeds, but not many. Disgaea 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 10, and Final Fantasy 12 are playable. There are likely more, but those are the ones I've tested.

In the meantime, hope someday we might get package versions of dosbox staging and disbox-X too, these seems to be eqally cool projects.
