skyscraper can have profiles added and changed, that resize and can add borders to images, there isn't anything for videos though.

If you edit the gamelist.xml, follow Hhromic's post to change the game path to end with the folder.

Or change the folder name to remove the pseudo extension ".svm" but this is kind of a loss of a working organization function.

Batocera Linux has a x86 and x64 distribution image. I don't know which linux distribution it is based on.

Fixed: I removed psx rearmed files and installed from the optional packages via source. I was working with the main packages before.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you installed the HDMI adapter that connects the Raspberry HDMI to the HDMI of the Game Hat? You probably had to remove it to install the Raspberry to the Game Hat, but after doing so you need to put it back!

@AlphaBetaPie There is an alpha version for Skyscraper for Windows - http://www.muldjord.com/downloads/Skyscraper_3.1.5_unsupported_win_version.zip - that might work. For videos - I don't think Skyscraper converts or does any processing, that's going to be more tricky to do.

Also something to consider is the shader you're using, as well as the resolution the Pi is running at. I currently cap my Pi to either 1280x720 or 640x480 depending on the emulator. Running the Pi on a CRT would kind of automatically limit the resolution, so that probably plays a big part in the performance improvements you've noticed.

However, It cannot be denied that overall, a CRT will perform better, even with these considerations, as your LCD TV has to process the video signal, whereas the CRT just takes it and displays it if it can.

Thats tough, I don't notice a lot of XU4 users here, and I don't know anything about them. XU4 forum is a better idea.

Is there any sort of config.txt for the kernel options, like as on the raspberry pi? Usually for overclock, or hdmi configuration, also kernel overlays modules.

there is a uboot.ini for XU4, and I didn't look far into it, there may be some configuration here that simply works

How long of an hdmi cable just out of absurdity? I think a very long 50ft hdmi could have problems like that. TVs okay probably, but maybe there is 4k upscaling(?) interference, switch it to a "Game" or "Graphic" mode if you already haven't. Maybe disable 4k options if possible.

I don't understand why you think there should be an Emulationstation folder in you $HOME after you install the package through the RetroPie-Setup - the installation folders for all packages are in /opt/retropie. After installation, you should be able to start Emulationstation using the RetroPie shortcut (.desktop) file added by the installer.

Make sure you have the proper ROMset for MAME-2003 for the game - when the emulator 'just closes', it's just a symptom of wrong ROMset.
The ROMset versions needed for each arcade emulator are detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/MAME/.

It looks like your USB gamepad is detected as Player2 - the Sony Vaio keyboard is somehow detected as the 1st joypad connected:
