@cyperghost It is finally working now. I just scrapped running it off the flash drive for now, and just copied the pak files to the microsd, and unpacked it off there. If anything, I could just copy the unpacked stuff back to the flash drive later on, if I really want to run it off the flash drive later. Thanks so much for your help on this, and for bearing with a complete noob like me. Sorry to bother you a whole year after this was last posted, and thank you for the working script!

I hope the controller mapping and config isn't too painful, requiring another script to configure....

    Hi Mike,

Sorry to dig this one up, but I'm desperate, haha.

I too am working on a project that launches a specific game with GPIO button. I was wondering if you still had the python script backed up somewhere that you'd be willing to share?

    Thank you either way.

    Many thanks,
    Scott

You can use thumbnail video preview in Windows explorer to sort your files. If there is no preview, then the Pi4 will not be able to read it correctly.
Download a video encoder like Shutter Encoder and tune settings to your convenience.

My user is "hollywoodarcade", so everything's located here: /home/hollywoodarcade/RetroPie

I'm guessing I'm probably in the wrong directory

@AtomicGamer said in Cannot Start N64 Games:

@Norstein I get an error that reads "No such file or directory" in the menu where it asked to input my gamepad I pressed f4 to get to the command line by the way

Is this the full error message?
Normally it should tell you: "[file or folder name]: No such file or directory", and that would tell you exactly what you are missing.
Without knowing what file exactly cannot be found, my best guesses here are that either mupen64plus is not installed or the rom file has been deleted or has wrong permissions.

@mitu After trying all day and failing I will tell you what I did

I tried your solution and it didn't work I started from 0 the two translation tutorials of the original post. In both I get this error at the end

    /home/pi/EmulationStation/es-core/src/resources/font.cpp:17: font : :fontface : : fontface(resourcedata&&, int) : assertion `!err' failed

    then try two possible solutions:
    a) update retropie setup (dont work)
    b) update emulationstation from source (work but back to english)

the only thing that works so that it is translated but the shutdown / restart menu does not work is to put in autostart.sh LANG=es_ES.UTF8 /home/pi/EmulationStation/emulationstation #auto

    thank you for your patience

@djshenanigans You can use the File Manager (from the RetroPie system in EmulationStation) to copy your ROMs to the SD card, from the USB stick. Just rename the retropie-mount folder on the USB, so it's not automatically mounted over the ROMs folder by RetroPie. After plugging in the USB stick, the files there should be available under /media/usb0.

I have finally resolved it myself: the Bash Script itself was named "Master Edition" by accident, which led to this particular gamelist entry being ignored, with the bash script name being shown as the title instead, and since it has been ignored - no video.
Can be closed, but I will not delete this for now, in case anyone else encounters this or some of the friendly users who answered want to know where this went.

Add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Installation logs are kept in $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs - get the latest log from there (you'll need SSH to copy it), then post its contents on pastebin.com.

The error is a generic one, the root cause for this should be detailed in the log file.

@KLAJD Did you enable the Kiosk UI mode from EmulationStation's menu ?
