@mitu I think I did. My wifi dongle and hub arent working but they work in retropie without issue, no drivers.

@spentboy I'm not seeing that I have mupen64plus-GlideN64-hires as an emulator option, nor is it anywhere in the optional packages. Am I missing something? (I do have mupen64plus-GlideN64, but it doesn't load the rom. And none create the htc file.

@dankcushions yeah, from a libretro implementation POV, but afaik lr-mame2003-plus would still be a far better choice than lr-mame2003 if libretro features are what you are looking for.

    https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#launch-with-verbose-logging

No, but I re-mapped in Mame and it seems to work now.

The mapping is still really, really weird. Several buttons are showing as "Retropad1 A" when I press them, even though they are completely different and were mapped as such by ES.

without seeing your config files and verbose log i can't really see what is going on. what you posted above was not what i asked for. you need to post the verbose log and the config file for your controller(s) in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads

I was able to at least get Player 2 controls to "talk" with Mame. Apparently they had been bound to the same registers as player 1 in Retroarch. So now the player 2 buttons and joystick work, but the buttons are still really screwed up.

you're not going to end up in that situation unless you change RGUI settings or configs.

you do the initial bind within emulationstation, and the button you bind as select will be the button for insert coin in lr-mame2003, by default. i suspect there's some changed settings/overrides going on.

  • [Solved] Launching Xbox Gamepass Games on Windows

@mitu Erm. Not exactly... I could maybe get the .bat file to run the .lnk

The problem is, the way the xbox app installs the games is by writing them to <driveletter>:WindowsApps - which I do not have access to.

    f04dde76-8375-4323-9b14-2973058da5f4-image.png

There is no .exe per say to run, so all I could do would be to run the .lnk from a .bat, which I have tried, but launching the .lnk from the .bat still makes the script think its' finished and then ES returns.

However, I've managed to solve it.
The main thing is to get ES to not return until the game has gone full screen.

I borrowed the idea from https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687564452 and was able to figure out how to make a batch file to launch the game.
If anyone has gamepass, the only difference is on the link above it asks you to find the .exe that has been launched, whereas with this, you want the full target of the URL

My Example below is for Forza Horizon 4.

    echo off cls cmd /r start "" "shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_randomlettershere!SunriseReleaseFinal" timeout /t 120

So instead of having "ForzaHorizon4" after the ! I needed to use "SunriseReleaseFinal"

The problem I had, was that ES was still returning too quickly.
If I used pause, then it wouldn't return at all without a keypress.

Thankfully Windows 10 has the timeout function.
So by setting a timeout for 120 seconds, this allowed the program to launch and go full screen before ES returned, and when it did, it did so behind the current full screen, allowing me to play the game, and then exit back in to ES.

Hopefully this will help someone else who is trying to do the same thing.
I'm going to edit the title to make it a bit more specific.

SOLVED - everything is working now. Thank you for your help.

Recap - in case it helps anyone else:

Problem: videos would not play after scraping, using Steven Selph's Scraper (optional package)

Solution - run RetroPie-Convert-Videos script by @hiulit to convert the videos using option: --to-ces "yuv420p"
    https://github.com/hiulit/RetroPie-Convert-Videos

Replace the original video files with the converted video files.

My mistake: specifying the wrong option parameter for --to-ces

To test a video file will play: exit emulation station to the command line and try to run the video using omxplayer
    $ omxplayer <path to video file>

Video files for testing are available here:

@ditch123 I know this is an old topic. But it looks like a bunch of know it alls replied to this message, and didn't even remotely answer the guys question. To get run and gun to play and passed the load screen you have to hit f2 and f3 at the same time. You most likely never got this game to work. I hope you now will.

@eric-coyler there's no difference. Select is just a rebranded name. I use plus but wouldn't hesitate to try select.

I would add that I have two DragonRise controllers, a USB Mouse (e.g., spinner), and USB keyboard connected.

I changed out the controller board for the 2nd player with another DragonRise just to see if it was the problem. That wasn't it.

    @dreamcastkid

    Hey

thanks a lot. i am very happy to read that someone has got it.
last night i installed all additional emulators which are available. now i have more folders for ROMs on my USB. i put the psychic 5 rom in the new created folder mameadv mame and it runs.
but it only works with the keyboard and not with my ps3 controller. and i just can run left and right and i cannot find the correct keys for jump and hit.
any idea? But maybe tomorow i am able to play it, because i ordered a arcade usb joystick, maybe the ps3 controller does not work with this kind of game?!

thank for very much für your answer!!

@mitu - as always you are a person of high class and a scholar. Renamed the directory with a name shorter than 9 characters and it's good to go. Thx.
