yeah, it's definitely the correct gamelist.xml

I switched on my PC today, and the problem remained.
So, in an effort to find the exact sequence to trigger this, I built a test .emulationstation folder from scratch. 3 roms, 1 system, 1 hidden rom.

And, it worked perfectly. <hidden>true</hidden> tags hid the one hidden rom.
So, I put back my original .emulationstation folder.

And, now, <hidden> works fine for me.

No other changes were made. (I renamed the folder, and just named it back)
So.
Not sure what to say to you guys now!

If I can reproduce it in future, I'll note how I did it.
Some of the time in the last day or two, I enabled Kiosk sometimes via the UI, and sometimes by editing the .cfg file by hand.
I didn't think ES wrote any changes apart from into the .emulationstation folder.
Each time though, like I said, I could see <hidden> was true in the entry, in Full mode.
And Kiosk was enabled properly, since I couldn't make any UI changes.

In my software, I'm going to add support for hiding certain genre's, and that should complete the work on it for the time being, I think.

@t-poepken You should have opened a new topic, just because this is about 3DO doesn't mean you're experiencing the exact same issue.
Please provide a detailed log - use the runcommand launch menu to enable debug logging then post your log file on pastebin.com.

rpi 3b+ and retropie 4.6 . I saw ... although I had all the scripts adapted with zdoom ... I would touch to modify them all again.

So with 4.4, most core and main packages installed, but there were a few that wouldn't. lr-stella, lr-pcsx-rearmed failed to build.

So in short - trying this is a mixed bag. Some things will build. Some things won't.
At least the raspberry pi image is a stable platform, but doing PC builds will always be a forever-forward moving target

@mitu I did a lot of reading around in those docs, but since I didn't require a user/pass for access I didn't know how much of that I should cut out of the line so I browsed forums until I found an example of someone doing what I was trying to.

Duly noted, though. Just another thing added to all the stuff I've learned about this stuff in the last couple months. After fixing that, Daphne works as well for me. I knew it was going to be some little minute detail. Thanks again, you're a lifesaver.

bummer - seems like such a great game otherwise. if i ever get past the part on the x68000 version i'll have to save! thanks for confirming, and for the extra info.

i don't have ps1 on my setup; i'll give it a try. hopefully it runs ok on a pi3b+.

It did end up that i did flash the card with retropie 4.4 , and voila
no error at all while setting up the wifi ,

could not communicate with wpa_supplicant error is gone when setting up . it 4.4 works , lets go for the 4.5 :=) and perhaps do a update from 4.5 to 4.6 ?

Edit: Did flash the card to 4.5.1 and working just fine with wifi and the setup during the wifi setup aswell

I should know this about the Amiga as I did have one. I wished I kept it now. I am just so used to playing games with a button for jump I forgot about the Amiga using one fire button (I used the competition pro or the 500XJ EPYX Joystick).

In regards to the custom commands to disable the up control I have worked it out.

If anyone is interested when you start an amiga game through amiberry it creates an auto-startup file.
In this file you can place a custom option after the PRELOAD command
eg PRELOAD CUSTOM1=1
You would need to visit whdload.de to see the info of the game and what custom options it has.
Comes in handy if you want to add unlimited lives etc to some games.

@mitu I was running a normal XOrg session before (which is the default on PopOS), but running emulationstation in a Wayland session worked! Unfortunately, Wayland is pretty unstable in PopOS, but maybe it will work just for running retropie.

In case anyone runs into the same issue, you have to enable Wayland as described here and it will work.

It was that indeed. Sorry, I had forgotten that I had a previous emulationstation (yes, from Ubuntu repos) install in the machine. I just re-installed the machine, and got everything from the RetroPie-Setup script this time. It works like a charm!

Ahh I get it. I thought the quick menu was the core options. I'm still finding my way around - there's a ton to retroarch!

Regarding runahead, I gave https://docs.libretro.com/guides/runahead/ a good read. I didn't try calculating the amount of runahead needed to offset the latency, but I just tried it set to 1 and the game and audio stutters. My Pi is currently setup stock speed if that matters.

Also, if I enable a second instance in there, I get Failed to create second instance.

Found the retroarch config thanks for the fps. So many places to set stuff.
