@wild-snail you don't need to look at any code, just go to the retropie-setup menu and there should be an option there under configuration I believe

Take a look at https://github.com/recalbox/mk_arcade_joystick_rpi, it's similar to what you have in mind and it's already included in RetroPie.

It's been reported a few times - seems like the PS1 USB controller doesn't get detected at all on a Pi4, for some reason.

well, i though wrong it is still crashing for me. i ve tried batocera, retropie on raspberry pi and on pc via linux.. nothing, but it seems i m getting less frequent hung-systems, since it triggers now 1 out of 20 achievements i get at random. i ve tried all i could, i ve not found the solution. more is at the github page

It's not in the optional section, it's in experimental (as stated in the doc page). Even so, the core has some bugs on the Pi4 (graphical glitches) and for the moment it's not fullspeed.

@mitu thanks, that's it. I forced the hdmi group to 1 and mode to 16 to get 1080, and now the menus appear on the screen.

@NurseAngela what I have is a cheap usb PS2 replica controller which I have assigned as player one for consoles such as N64, PS1 etc that would need the trigger buttons

And I think I figured it out. Don't remember changing that setting though. I don't remember setting "ParseGamelistOnly" was set to "True" but it was.

Not currently, you need an SD card for boot.

You can store roms on the SSD though.

That fixed my problem - thanks for your help.

I've just made a donation to Retropie because it's my favourite community project and your help, although a bit tart, was faster and more useful than any paid support I've ever received.

To bring this thread to its full conclusion I finally got round to modifying my copy of Gloom Deluxe.

I made an HD floppy disk image file and used Workbench to copy the contents of both disks to this file. I then modified the s/startup-sequence file to boot straight into the game without loading the setup program. I used ED from the AmigaDOS Shell to do this.

I now have a single disk version of Gloom Deluxe that works perfectly.
