@rsimmy it should be permanent. Have you moved the configs into another device anything? Or any custom scripts? Did you install RetroPie under a normal user instead of root?

I understand the symptoms may be the same but often there are multiple reasons for an issue, so a new topic with full information about your set-up helps. Also the problem in this topic was solved. Please follow the guidance in the link I provided.

I suppose that your remote is the one from OPPO DV-980H. Does LIRC includes a config for that remote ? If not, how did you create your /etc/lirc/lircd.conf ? This file needs to be properly configured, the key codes must match with the description otherwise things won't work as it should. Here is an example:

The lircmap.xml is only to atribute a specific key from the lirc.conf to a Kodi action.

@markyh444 Class 10 sandisk card turned up, i installed the OS, and i managed to get past the button definition screen and onto the setup screen but it keeps freezing again :( now i have no idea what it could be!

If anyone did try to help, don't worry I ditched the mini keyboard and went for a standard USB one. Solved

Thanks for your answer, I tried other emulators but unfortunately, none of the games I want to play are emulated correctly so I want to stick with mupen64plus.

Am I really the only one who tried to implement different controller layouts with this emulator? Can't be true ...

they work in 0.78. see the compatibility list for notes on performance (i.e. that they are unplayably slow on pi 3)

@faugnom1 I used its default config for two snes controllers so I've never had to mess with it. Maybe it won't get created until you set it up once.

(Understand you are visually impaired, but I assume you are able to read the website/forum via large fonts/high constrast/text to speech etc).

What problem are you having with the calibration? I'm not sure anyone can do a better step to step instruction than our existing official documentation. I have no idea what guides you have read but this is the official one -

@edmaul69 It keeps turning itself off. Like I turn it on, exit, but when I come back it's turned off. I've even gone into retroarch.cfg to turn it on, but it still turns itself off.
