I sorted it. One of the joysticks was upside down. it configured correctly but when playing a game it was back to front, strange but fixed now.

I think you posted to the wrong thread... this is over a year old, and after translating what you wrote, it didn't apply to the OP... something about xbox testing and hd screens....

@alturis I'm not fully sure about the theming aspects of it, and how that's structured.

The custom-collection theme folder has the theme settings for all the custom collections that will be grouped under the "my collections" err... collection, as sub-folders.

You won't be able to further customize them there - there is a single theme/layout for each ES "system".

If, however, you're looking to add specific custom collection artwork, add them to the root of the theme. Look at some of the other custom collections (mario, kids, shmups) in that theme for a good example. These will show at the main carousel level, though, not inside the "My Collections" folder.

Thats weird, I did try and delete /home/pi/cfg/default.cfg
it even says it's autogenerated.
Regardless deleting it now it works, thanks a lot :-)

Thank you @mitu for the quick and, arguably, more importantly, accurate information. Too many times I have been given a solution that just leads me down a rabbit hole that never ends but this was a one-stop solution.!

@herb_fargus That IS my custom es_systems.cfg, but I've checked the other one and it's not doing anything that should conflict with that.

EDIT: Oh, wait! The SAM lines were in a weird place in the other es_systems.cfg and I hadn't spotted them. I don't actually see anything different in them to mine, but replacing mine with that one worked, so yay! Cheers :)

@cyperghost I got drawn here by @Vanpotheosis' post and thought it could be a good idea to add a little something that may be useful to other drive-by readers. :) I didn't know Linux Reader before, it may be a good advice to some of my Windows-using friends.

First time that someone called my suggestion as linux elite like by using a Windows programm - sounds strange. But I recommend you to get in touch with SSH and the terminal. It offers the valuest way.

@herb_fargus Yes, it is the strangest thing. I did recreate everything except for the rpconfig menu. It shows only the word "rpconfig" instead of "retropie config" and there is no help, no icon in the icon/video window to the right. It works, but is just not pointing to things. Are you saying to look for other es_systems.cfg or go through the entries in that file?

Most games have a start video or preview, especially arcade games, it's just how they were designed. RetroPie is a collection of emulators and the games are normally as they were when they were new.

I'm not sure this is a way of skipping other than using the Retroarch hotkeys for fast forwarding, though I've not explored that myself. Hotkeys etc are well documented in the official wiki though.

Yes exactly. You can either have both .zip files in the desired rom folder or you can merge the contents together into the one zip file (into the child zip file).

There are also other games that have a BIOS requirement that can again have the contents of which rolled into the game zip. Or for lr-fbalpha specifically the bios zip file can just reside in /home/pi/BIOS and I think you could do this with parent game zip files too in lr-fbalpha but doesn't seem neat and tidy to me.

VLC on my Mac can play these files OK, tried a few media players without any issues.
