Got it resolved by editing /etc/modprobe.d/xpad.conf and changing triggers_to_buttons to 0

    Thanks for the update.

@E3L1 said in Can’t built emulationstation:

@Clyde it’s more.... why can’t raspberrypi release a SBC with a GPU faster that 300mhz.....

Because the Raspberry Pi was never meant to be powerful. It was (and is) developed first and foremost to be an educational device "to promote teaching of basic computer science in schools and in developing countries" (Wikipedia).

@BadFurDay said in Retropie - Attract mode question:

@darkmenace That setting should boot Attract Mode into the last display it was on before you quit it last time. You need to quit for it to work though, if you force shutdown or pull the power it won't save where you were. You should set a button for exit (not just back) and exit it from Attract Mode while on your Arcade display. If you then do force shutdowns or pull the power you won't need to do this again.

When you exit Attract Mode does it go to terminal or have you set it to shutdown?

Thanks again BFD. It is now working as expected :)

Could be a throttling issue. I have decided to move the amiga games one folder at a time into the roms folder.
So I will scrape all games beginning with A in the roms folder.
I'll then do the same with B etc and create a number of gamelist.xmls
I'l then do a merge of the gamelist.xmls and edit it to point to the correct folders.

A bit of work but it should hopefully do the trick rather than scraping all at once in different folders.

    Regards
    Jimi

And I didn't get around to make the aforementioned changes for your setup either, because I'm on vacation for a movie festival where I watch 2-3 movies every day over the whole week. :)

About the artwork's space: Yeah, I figured as much. But none said that retrogaming is a piece of cake (and if they said that, they lied). I'll keep this on my to-do list and look forward for any updates on your side.

    @Sebiohazard Ah ok.

As far as the media question, the theme configuration file(s) will pick what media it uses, so you're safe to include all the gamelist supported tags that you want.

Most of the time with themes, in [Detailed] view it will show <image> and possibly <marquee>, but when using [Video] gamelist view, it will show <image> for 0-3 seconds then it will be replaced with <video>, so you can add whatever supported tags & media you want and the theme itself will determine which one it uses.

(I've seen some themes that only use <video> in video mode so it will show an empty box if there is no video, but other themes will use <image> in place of <video> if the video file is missing, so it's a good idea to have both <image> and <video> )

:D means the double click on a file doesn't open the associated program... ;) Well, that sounds logical.

I edited the smb.conf and it works perfectly. Thanks so much!!!

Once it's better integrated into RetroArch, perhaps it'll be a non-issue.

Oh yes, I'm hoping soo eagerly for this.

@MaMikee Use runcommand configuration and change Launch menu to disabled. I also disable Launch menu art and disable Launch menu Joystick control. It should just boot cleanly into your game from emulationstation.

Finally got it working, I Had a backup of an older image I kept. Retropie 4.4.1
So I will need to check which version of reicast it is, also do you know if I choose to update the retropie script and update the OS and other emulators BESIDES reicast…. it should not effect reicast at all?

Thanks for the link to older version.. will have that as backup plan if need to.

Theoretically it should be possible. The trackball should replicate a mouse and if ES could translate trackball/mouse inputs as joystick/keyboard inputs then it should be theoretically possible. I haven't tried this nor am I involved in development here, but this would be cool functionality. Right now you could get around this with a little USB control pad that is only used for ES, but I understand this isn't a long term solution. I'm not sure if this is the right place to suggest modifications to EmulationStation, but perhaps specific workaround code could be developed similar to the "xarcade2joystick" (or whatever it's called) functionality. This would be cool nonetheless.

Thank you @Rascas for pointg out where to ask.

For the record: the model of the joystick is Terios T3, but I have found that it is also branded as Gen Game S3.
I haven't found official docs of it, but digging in the forums I found how to set it in gamepad mode, working perfectly without the need of the extra adapter sold to work with a PC (basically turn it on holding HOME and A buttons).

    @pi2user
I heard someone saying the same, so I would like to try this version.
It's a shame, the only way to play this game is to use save states.
At least now I know it's possible to finish the game! :P

@RetroSavior If your free space is below 5% of partition capacity, you'll not be able to save anything - the OS reserves 5% for the root user, so it's unusable for regular users.

If the USB encoder makes all 7 buttons available, then you can navigate the UI and start games so it should be possible to make EmulationStation use it. As for the 2nd Player, you can use advmame for arcade emulation and it would be possible to split the encoder inputs to both, not sure about how practical it is though.

@gtoal I don't see how this applies to the topic at hand - the poster specifically said it's a non-W(ifi) model and they don't try to use wireless at all.
