@zacho95 Also another thing you can try is powering off the console, pulling the power cord/power supply, press the power button on the Xbone a couple of times to drain it, and then reboot and retry.
I used to get paid to do this shit for Microsoft :)

When you connect a controller to an XBONE via wired or wireless, it saves the ID of the console in the controller's memory, so if it is not connecting to it after all of these steps, it is probably the wireless functionality on the controller that is dead (in all my years of working we have not had the wireless adapter on the console side break). I have seen a lot of those original controllers break over the years :)

Also if you have a friend with an XBONE, try to pair it to that console

@papinist DL21 only works for DL, but on http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/tech/ you can find enhanced versions of DL2 and SA as well. Look under "ROM Updates".

I think a separate thread would be better for your Daphne issues.

@barbudreadmon said in Standard step up for Fightsticks/ Arcade Controllers:

ndation for lr-fbalpha : set "modern" as device type in "Retroarch menu > Quick Menu > Controls" and use the following :
      Y X R1 L1
      B A R2 L2
Capcom games will work properly with this.

2003+ has three settings the compatible fba standard in controls (gamepad)
      https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/blob/master/metadata/wipcontrols/modern.png

and 8 button (this is more friendly mapping for other cores again its personal choice which one you use)

      https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/blob/master/metadata/wipcontrols/10PANEL.png

6 button the (same as fba i think)
      https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/blob/master/metadata/wipcontrols/snesmapping.png

the classic is basically used for xbox/psx ect controllers

@ekdor A RetroPie configured system does not need a login to work, it logs automatically the pi user and starts Emulationstation. What's your actual problem ?

@jaladhjin If your keyboard is not detected, you can use SSH to run the RetroPie-Setup script - log in and run

      sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

It is hard to tell 100% from the images but I agree with @grant2258 that it you have flipped at least one of you wire sets for the micro switches.

I would put my money on that as the issue.

After you fix it you might need to re-run the input configuration as well.

I suggest a SNES style controller. It will easily handle both NES and SNES games. Three button Genesis/Mega Drive games also work fine. Six button Genesis games are a bit awkward, though.

My personal favorites are the Retrolink Dual link Capcom SNES controllers, the buffalo SNES clones, and the PS4 Hori Fighting commanders. The Hori is especially nice because of the six button layout and quality d pad, but they are more expensive. Be wary of the buffalo controllers as they are very nice, but they have ghost input issues (all three buffalos I own have that problem).

I do not like the 8bitdo wireless options personally. I have found them to be quite overpriced for what they do. They also have a significant problem with signal interference in my abode, but I have something like two dozen wireless devices running in the same apartment with 4 radios running at legal maximum signal. Your experience may vary.

Controllers for larger hands include the Hori Pokken controller, which is excellent but bulky. The xbox one controller honestly works pretty well and has a good pad, but it's large. The PS4 controller is expensive, but might be a good wireless option for small hands (I like the ps4 controller, but my wife has spider fingers so she likes the xbox).

Do not by the super cheap multi controller packs from Amazon. You would be better off playing Ninja Gaiden with a keyboard than using those things.

I had the same issue with the same controller. I suspected it was the Xpad driver and was correct after updating everything else individually.

I'm not certain it will fix the issue, but here is my working Xpad driver's entire folder.

      Working Driver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HYT5lnioWIvuF3LuNHe4Wf91DzfLM5-k/view?usp=sharing

These go in /opt/retropie/supplementary/xpad, but everything in there requires Root access to alter.

      SSH Method: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#why-cant-i-ssh-as-root-anymore

      I hope I was helpful.

@ben63 Try setting Device type to just Retropad.
Your current setting only applies to certain games that support analog control. (for example some ps1 games)
I've noticed some issues with my controller when I had the same setting, so I only set Device type to Retropad /w analog for the PS1 and N64 games that support analog control.
If you set device type to Retropad and Analog to digital to Left analog, you can control the game with both dpad and the thumbstick.
Also don't forget to save your settings (either to the game or the core).

      All,

thanks for replying and apologies for not including some relevant info :-)

      So,

      Pi 3B
      Official Pi PSU
      RetroPie Version 4.3.9
Built from Pre made SD image on site
Arcade cabinet with 2x joysticks plugged into generic encoders presented as DragonRise generic USB joystick (no issues with any other emulators/games)
      Config: https://pastebin.com/pmUkTEVe
Issue is as stated, load cannonball with no issues, go to config controls cannot set any controls in there, can navigate menu system but left and right perform up and down (if that makes sense)

I have cannonball installed on a picade I made a while back with no issues at all.

      any help appreciated

      Thanks
