@cacrlhungus74 Sure, we'll keep an eye out for it. If you want to send over any of the other logs from your pi when you have the chance, please do so and I'll gladly take a look. Do trim syslog to have data for only the specific day/session of the issue - no need to send me all the historic logs from your pi :)

In regards to reinstalling, you're referring to the ubuntu one, right?

If you'd have a spare SD card lying around, and would want to do the same from a fresh RetroPie 4.4 image with no updates and see how it goes, that could help as well.

      Thanks!

      I've encountered this problem myself.
All you have to do is remove the dependencies for vlc

@andrewh I know it is not what you asked for, but I saw a thread some time ago where someone used Attract Mode, as there is apparently a decent vertical theme.

@mitu said in Issue configuring PowerA Fusion wired XBox One controller:

@AdamBeGood You should have opened a new topic instead of bumping 2 years old topics.

I'm sorry, I should have started a new topic and referenced this thread. Apologies.

Let me know if I am okay to carry on posting here now, or if the best route is to still open a new topic.

Your issue is probably caused by the usage of rpi-update, which overwrote the xpad driver with the stock Linux kernel version. As explained throughout the topic, RetroPie includes a patched version, which modifies the default driver behavior and maps the triggers as buttons instead of axis.
Don't use rpi-update as a regular update mechanism - it's not intended to be used as such. RetroPie uses dkms to install additional Linux kernel drivers, so that any normal Linux kernel update (via apt) will automatically re-install the drivers. When using rpi-update, this is not possible and causes issues if you rely on a certain driver to be installed and working.

I wouldn't normally use rpi-update but I wanted to try out the KMS change to see how that affected N64 emulation.

Any idea how I resolve this issue now? I looked at amending the line mentioned in the thread but that line doesn't seem to be present in my script, and there is a reference to the trigger issue also so I think the script has been updated since the above was written.

      dkms install -m xpad -v 0.4 -k "$kernel" dkms install --force -m xpad -v 0.4 -k "$kernel"

I tried re-installing xpad from Source but that hasn't changed anything.

The below line is also present in "xpad.conf"

      options xpad triggers_to_buttons=1

My controller is connected by a USB lead, I'm not using Bluetooth.

Later Edit: it is especially strange as it is only my Elite Controller that is having this issue. Standard XBox One Controller is perfect.

@paf said in Game description in detailed view does not scroll correctly:

The power saving modes (other than "disabled") are not compatible with scrolling description text

So disabling power saving solved my text scrolling problem.

I hope this will help others to.

Man thank you! This bugged me for a long time and I always thought it is something with the Emulation Station Themes and just kinda ignored it. Many thanks posting the solution, you helped me at this point.

      es-theme-cygnus

it looks like this theme repository doesn't exist anymore. paging @BuZz - guess it can be removed from https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/06d4418ed485f701ce42f61e9a1777142c0fd946/scriptmodules/supplementary/esthemes.sh ?

after that is done, you could update your setup script and try again.

@tigerknee That seems an over complicated stuff to do. The problem with ES running at same time as X.org was because input devices losing controll. I don't know if that is still true. Does it work fine, while the desktop is still running, like playing games and return to the desktop?

Here's the direct link to the raw file.

How did you do the update ? Have you updated all packages or picked some of them and updated ? As @TheDataCereal said, ES seems so be missing so you should re-install it from the setup script.

      For anyone wondering, I got it working using Raspidmx PNGView: ./pngview -b 0 -l 10000 file.png

I set the layer to 10000 so it overlaps EmulationStation as well as RetroArch

@mitu - Thanks for the link. I added the system environment variables mentioned in the ARCH wiki and verified the were set and showed up using vainfo. VLC itself still was accelerated (~30% CPU), emulationstation was still not @~165% cpu
