AES/MVS in FBA and Neo Geo system, want two different settings (solved)

With your help, I finally tested this (so far with one game each system, but there should be no reason why the other games don't work as intended now) successfully. But there is a mistake in your posting.

@mitu said in AES/MVS in FBA and Neo Geo system, want two different settings:

      modify the system's retroarch.cfg and add core_options_file = `/opt/retropie/configs/<SYSTEM>/retroarch-core-options.cfg`

The emulator does not seem to read from this setting, but there is already an existing setting for this file. Instead of core_options_file look for core_options_path. This worked for me. Anyway, thousands of thanks, as this was the last riddle in the Neo Geo mystery to me and I tried to figure this out since month! I am really happy now.

I tried overclocking on my pc but didn't notice anything. It's weird. Maybe the game itself just uses less frames for jumping/projectiles. The player can smoothly move left/right while at the same time an enemy can throw a projectile at a lower framerate. The whole game doesn't slow down.

      Damn!!

It worked. Maybe I had set it to save config on exit writing that file. Then it was still there even when I changed this setting!

Pasting that did the trick. Thanks a million.

Ps. Look out for my Arcade photo uploads (once I’ve figured that out too)

@Eckaji the soundtarcks for mortal kombat, outrun, final fight, moonwalker, nbajam and double dragon optional if the user wants them the option can be turned on add off in the option menu so no need to delete the samples if you want the original arcade sounds. Its just an added feature to make the games come to life a little more. Flac support has been added recenty as well to save on space

It worked like a charm... thanks for the code dudleydes.

If anyone else is thinking about doing something similar, please bear in mind that you will also need to copy the Mame configurations (overwrite the mame folder in arcade), otherwise you'll loose your keyboard mappings and other configurations.

      Cheers,

I'm building a coin operated arcade machine for my personal use (to helpme save some money) and I'm trying to play VS system games and PlayChoice-10 on my retroarch 4.4 build, but haven't been able to run properly some games, Like VS ICE CLIMBERS and VS SUPER MARIO, Has anyone been able to run those under MAME or FBA? What can I do to run them properly?

I can only get the VS games running in the current lr-mame. I actually did a tiny build of it with only vsnes.c driver. Runs fine on a pi3+...

@tr3v0r when you set up a 6 button layout it is supposed to be set up as

      LXR
      YBA

yes there is massive confusion at the moment with 6 and 8 buttons.

the Megadrive/Genesis (6 Button) layout you where using is probably for the megadrive emulator its no good in other cores. Keep in mind to remap your genesis core if your using this as a global

@cloudlink It's in the file mamenames.xml in the resources folder of the RetroPie EmulationStation repo: https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation

Here's the direct link to the raw file.

Nevermind, I got it working. You have to choose the fbalpha neocd option before loading. Also, it looks like it doesn't have chd support and no cd music..which was the point of using this. Thanks anyways. Back to lr-mess.

lr-mame2016 still does not compile on the pi, but the only rom I need it for at this point is DK remix Christmas edition.

I wouldn't mind adding support for it, but it seems it was some kind of private rom.

Is lowering the resolution an option to you? And using overlays and shader can also have an impact.

The problem is having a compiled version that doesn't change every week

How about not updating if you don't want to update ? No one is forcing you to update it every week, and there aren't romset changes every week anyway.

@markwkidd said in Need Help Configuring D-Pad to act as Analog Stick in Arcade Games:

This will be easier to accomplish with the new remapping system in RetroArch 1.7.2 -- probably RetroPie 4.5 though. Cold comfort today I know.

how would it work with this specific example? i don't know what the new retroarch stuff does, yet, so this will be an interesting example.

i'm thinking for retropie's initial binding, we give the users each abstracted retropad button, and they press the associated physical button they want to use for that, which seems logical so far. how would retroarch 1.7.2 change this approach?
