I know this is a pretty old post, but I am at least now, so that it can be of any help in the future:

The buttons should work with the PowerBlock! Also the PowerBlock already comes with a resistor on the LED signal line so that you should be able to directly connect the LED pins with the corresponding LED pins of the button.

@DeathByOrangez PCSX2 is for PC computers only, it won't run on Raspberry Pi.

@mitu This was the cause of my issues. More info here.
      https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=349070

My issue was also fixed by adding arm_64bit=0 to /boot/config.txt.

@hawkes_84 just a little bonus update on this but in the game they've mapped the iron boots and the Ocarina to left and down on the D-Pad so you don't have to keep swapping them out by pressing start all the time. Just like OOT on the 3DS

      Nice touch!

@magzilla This may be a bit late since your original post was in April, but I thought others might be interested as well.

Over on the MiSTer FPGA forums there's been a lot of interest in this display:

      https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005001689746001.html

It's a 9.7" iPad-ish display that can run at up to 2048x1536(but supports lower modes as well). I bought one and it's extremely good value for money, although you do need to purchase some extras (a better stand, a better video cable are probably musts).

Comes in three slightly different configuration - I got the miniHDMI/USB C version. Very happy with it. So far I've tried it with a MiSTerFPGA, a TheC64 and a Raspberry Pi 4 (running Raspberry Pi OS but I see no reason it wouldn't work with RetroPie)

Here it is running on my MiSTer:

@bluecoffee said in Pi4 with vertical screen orientation - newest advice?:

Suggests that I should be modifying the file autostart.sh.
      Is this correct?

      Yes.

Could someone outline the steps that need to be taken in 2022 using a Raspberry Pi 4.
There also seem to be lots of conflicting questions about

Does this only affect Emulation Station, but not the actual games themselves?

      Yes.

Does this cause a performance hit like the old method did?

      For EmulationStation, not so much.

Do I need to modify each emulator to run vertically as well?

Yes, though for RetroArch you can change the main configuration and it will be applied to each core.

See this topic for a similar question and some recommendations on how to rotate the screen.

I finally got the driver to enable through the retropie config screen without shutting the whole thing down. I had to update all drivers, packages and everything on the pi through the retropie config screen and then I was able to enable the ControlBlock driver. When I edited the controlblock config file it was blank so I added all the code that is usually there and configured it to work with arcade and a power button. I restarted everything and it's like it's not even there. jtest doesn't even pull up, ControlBlock isn't on services running. I'm at a loss. I've been messing with this for a week now and it doesn't work like it should.

Anyone willing to take a look at my boot and see if they can see what I'm missing?

@George-Spiggott In the comments section of the raspberry pi blog the link is referring to, Upton said that he will keep the Zero 2W at $15 for now unless it gets more expensive to make them. I need a few of them so I'll try to get them as soon as I see them available.

@hawkes_84 I'd like them to do an M30 Pro with dual analogues, hard to fit on the 6 button layout though. There's a cheapo Chinese one that sort of does it, they've tilted the buttons the other way to make room for the right analogue. From what I could work out though it's not a proper 6 button layout, one of them is for turning on autofire.

Got a 2.4G M30 on the way for my real Mega Drive, can't wait!

I just tried to boot with just the lid of the NESPi case removed, where the SATA-to-USB adapter is located, which was of course plugged into one of the Pi's USB 3.0 ports.

      Now it boots without problems!

Since these problems started after I performed an update of RetroPie, I suspect an EEPROM update of the Pi made the SATA-to-USB adapter incompatible. I never would have suspected the case lid as it has worked without problems in the past.

At least we finally found the problem. I'll now try to fix this by updating the firmware of the adapter in the case lid and report back whether it worked.

Thanks for your help, mitu! :-)

@mitu Removing the overclock didn't help unfortunately. Here's the rest of the info to the best of my ability

Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4B
Power Supply used: CanaKit 3.5A Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply (USB-C)
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
Built From: Pre made SD image from raspberry pi imager v1.6.2
      USB Devices connected: None
Controller used: 8bitdo Pro 2 (connected with bluetooth
      Error messages received: N/A
      Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
      Guide used: N/A
      File: N/A
      Emulator: N/A
      Attachment of config files: https://pastebin.com/BKrPS3Z5
How to replicate the problem: Connect RPi4 to CRT, test output using 2nd color bleed check in 240p test suite Mega Drive ROM (press A once on color bleed check).

If someone could replicate the test on their own device I would really appreciate that. I have a feeling it might be like this on all Pis and has just gone unnoticed by most people.

@tribunal88 I have a pi 3 in that case, and I've had it on for days at a time. As long as you aren't blocking the ventilation so they Pi can breathe, the fan alone should be fine.

@GoshGeeGolly said in Pi4, pairing random Bluetooth devices.:

Does installing vice, from source, maybe damage some core dependencies of retropie itself. Hence the weirdness?

No, that shouldn't affect Bluetooth connectivity. Also, why install from source when the binary is available ? Vice is also installed out of the box, so no installation should be necessary.

Would I have better luck with a USB dongle? I do have a pretty decent Asus BT400 I think somewhere, but I'd have thought by the year 2020 the Pi4 might have a reasonable enough chip??

If you have a metal case or an USB3 hdd connected, that may interfere with the wireless chip on the Pi and an external USB dongle may work better. You haven't provided the full details asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, that would have helped diagnose this faster.

Try removing all Bluetooth connected devices from the RetroPie-Setup configuration, then re-pair the controller (I assume 'dual sense' is the new PS5 controller) and see if it works better.
