@SgtJimmyRustles Yes of course. The restart is the default option but if you change the python script intead of

      os.system(scriptDir + "/recalbox_SafeShutdown.sh --restart")

You set the --kodi switch ;)
I recently build a small media center with the BATOCERA system and I would like to play some games and want a Media center. So it's a small gift to myself ;)

Keep us updated if you get the Japanese PS1 version of 'Kuon no Kizuna' working or not.

I actually booted up the game, got the to menu, but no matter what I choose (there only 2 entries + a 'Disable Rumble' entry) there's some warning or info message that I can't understand and then it goes back to the main menu. I didn't test with changing the game region from the core options, there might be some DRM/region protection message that I can't understand :).

Additional to that i do not think the left thumb button (clicking on the analog pad) is working. It is not mentioned in the waveshares user manual as well. I will check if it is connected to an gpio input soon so it can be maybe mapped in the future.

Did you found further informations about this problem?
I'm also wondering, why there is no function on this button at all.

@retropieuser1 unfortunately we do not support third party installs. as well as breaking the license, they are badly configured, ass you've found. please reinstall retropie from scratch as per https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/

@JToivonen got what you mean and here is the "un modified" solution...simply if you're playing plug the usb controller and when you finish just unplug it and it will shutdown automatically!, even when a power trigger happens "electricity went off then come back again" and found that your gamepad isn't connected it will shut down :)
here is the python file you just need to edit the line that kills qjoypad to kill whole system add poweroff or shutdown -h as you use in your momentry switch
don't forget to make the file run at start and special thanks to pablo

idea behind the script is that system creates a js0 file for controller 1 inputs and js1 for controller 2 when connected and so on, the script searches for that file if it's found that mean you've connected the gamepad and probably playing a game and when you finish unplugging the gamepad removes js0 file and when the script discovers the file is not found it kills an app process called qjoypad which you'll change to shutdown

please note you're not gonna use //User Variables section in this code so just ignore it.

The power saving modes (other than "disabled") are not compatible with scrolling description text

So disabling power saving solved my text scrolling problem.

I hope this will help others to.

Man thank you! This bugged me for a long time and I always thought it is something with the Emulation Station Themes and just kinda ignored it. Many thanks posting the solution, you helped me at this point.

@mitu yeah that could work, if someone is savvy enough to be wanting to change configs and such, then they would in theory have the know-how to get the pi online and ssh in anyway. I might have to have a play, see what happens

@reeebs said in [Rpi3] NDS touchscreen:

I don’t expect nothing in particular, as the two positions - the real one of my finger and the one of the pointer - are completely wrong: if I move, it moves too, but when I am in a corner it starts from the center and so on

That's very telling behavior and explains why the Dolphinbar wasn't recognized. The touchscreen is apparently being read in this case as a standard relative coordinates mouse. If it were being read as an absolute coordinates pointer device, the cursor would snap to wherever it was you touched at. Needless to say, this limitation combined with the wide area required to receive input really hinders precision.

Well...i thought i updated my laptop, but as it turns out as im on it now i did not and its on RetroArch 1.71. Ill do an update and see what happens...My pi 3b+ works even with my current overclocking tests so if things go south...

I did reinstall retropie on all 3 machines. My method of testing involved stripping the drive of its partition table, install my OS of choice (deb based of course), and then i installed retropie. Nothing else in between.

      Edit: More info

I was wrong on that. Its RetroArch 1.7.1 on the desktop machine, but i was able to unfortunatly recreate this on the pi by doing an apt update, apt upgrade.
It upgraded a few things such as the bootloader and the kernel, but as im watching it it seemed to have partially removed xpad - i say partially because it stated removing xpad and blah blah, but then in the retropie setup script it showed it as installed. Im not sure which action if not both caused the issue, but reinstalling xpad after a reboot did not resolve it.

So my Pi no longer works in Retroarch for player one. Does anyone know of any fixes for this, incompatabilities, bugs within the newest kernel or anything of the sort?
It is entirely possible that i did the same on the desktop before doing that second reboot so im kinda leaning toward it being kernel issue since xpad was NOT installed.

@lostless Thanks for the link, it does seem like the problem I'm having. I'll have to try the patch that was mentioned at the end of the thread and see how it goes. Unfortunately my build is in a old NES case with the two original controller always plugged in and inaccessible without opening up the entire case. So if I can't figure this out I guess my only remedy is to open the case and unplug the NES controllers each time I want to use the SNES ones. Here's hoping that isn't what I have to do.

@bulletbutter no, but you could copy the relevant config files/directories over, with much the same effect. it depends what kind of things you've configured.

Yeah the one that I mentioned is called "dungeonette" and it uses the full colour palette of the new system. There are also some demos knocking about and i've heard rumours about a new dizzy game in the works...

@markyh444 Pretty sure less than 1% of the people buying something like this would be capable of installing such a script. What about a pre-made image?

Just a thought on this. If people aren't able to work through running a script, then you're going to have a nightmare situation with support when problems pop up, and they will pop up.

If you are set on using a big CRT. You gotta make the cabinet very strong. I'd suggest 3/4 MDF or Pine hardboard.
