@zeotherm said in Unable to launch RGUI for core input remapping in a certain game:

One day I may look into getting a better ROM set.

It's not that you really need a "better" ROM set, it's that you need the specific ROM set intended for the emulator that you're using. pifba might get you up and running in this one case and even a few more out of sheer coincidence, but with all the games that these arcade emulators support, you're going to run into incompatibilities pretty often without coordinating the ROM set versions to the right emulation software.

@mediamogul Oh great thanks for updating that. Maybe it would be worth noting though. I'm not sure of the other versions of RetroPie but the one I'm running, 4.3.8 I needed to turn on the Online Updated Like mentioned above.

@bogus You can save the relevant part from the configs for the overlay part, they should be easy to re-apply - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Configuration-Editor/#advanced-configuration

Never mind. Found out it's the recent update to RetroArch causing the issue. Re-installing the image without updating fixes the issue.

@mitu Perfect! Now RGUI it's back.
menu_driver = "xmb" was in snes/retroarch.cfg, deleting that line fixed it.
      Thank you very much :)

@lostless well I'm not really concerned with who is P1 and P2 on EmulationStation. I'm concerned with trying to get one controller to map inputs. I know on an emulator's RGUI I can set P1 and P2 controls by navigating the menu with a separate controller, but sometimes it acts weird and I'll have to switch between 4 separate controllers to get it working. Choosing which controller is P1/P2 on the RGUI is easy until the controls decide to act up and get split up between 3 or 4 different controllers.

@atol I believe you you're talking about how to get your screenshots using another computer, right?

There are many ways, but I think that using a SFTP client is the most common. I use Filezilla on Linux, but if you are on Windows maybe you can try WinSCP. Maybe you can find more useful info on the Transfering ROMs part of the docs.

Did that. Buttons work fine up until I go into a game and enter the RGUI menu.

@mediamogul It works great for me too, I changed a long time ago. RGUI just offended my eyes. The only thing I had to do was add an icon for netplay that was missing on the retroactive icon theme I use. I couldn't bear to look at a black square where it should have been. I think personally that RGUI is used to keep the technophobes and noobs away from using it!

@dankcushions said in MAME2003, Rgui vs Tab:

when you press tab, where are those control configurations stored?

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#mame-menu

They appear to be tied to the retropad mapping so how do they work with the Rgui bindings?

basically all libretro emulators only see the retropad abstraction. so regardless of what controller you use, the emulator will only see 'Retropad A button', 'Retropad B button', etc. if you rebind something using the TAB key, what you are saying is 'Button 1' in mame is changed from 'Retropad A button' to 'Retropad B button', etc.

Perfect, thanks! I missed this in the Wiki.

I've installed RetroPie on a Linux x86 on Dec-15-2016 and noticed that the hotkeys to exit emulator/menu are working like before.

Maybe if you update RetroArch from source it'll work for you guys too. ;-)

      Cheers.

If you mean you can't use the "exit" hotkey when in RGUI (and the menu hotkey) - I believe so. You have to choose "quit".

Not sure if this is actually by design or not - but you can query it here - https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch

      @Rion Here you go !
Based on your list, FBA .39 resolutions calculated and added to Resolution Database: this is the updated link for download.
Added you in the readme file as source of the list ;-)

Some items in your list were not recognized by the program: for some of those I was able to find and add data manually, with some others no luck (e.g. 1942c64... *demo ... *frog ... *drumkit..). FBA resolution db still provides display info for 4132 games !
