      @AlmightyHeretic

      Try following this guide here to mount your drive.

      properly-mount-usb-storage-raspberry-pi

      That should solve most of your problems.

      I had a look in /boot/config.txt, but there was nothing of use there. I did come across something else though;

      https://github.com/tasanakorn/rpi-fbcp

      This utility will copy all the data from my primary framebuffer (fb0 / HDMI) to my secondary framebuffer (fb1/ USB). I've set it up to auto-run on start-up and it kind of works now. My next problem is that the refresh rate is only around 1 fps!

      @surfrock66 if you are about to explode with so much desire to use RGUI, the advice I give is: use it through emulationstation RetroPie menu only. And do not enable "Save Config on Exit" when playing games.

      We got some improvements to decrease the madness of the RGUI fans, but it's still confusing. ;-)

      So I was able to get my buddies RPi3 running RetroPie 4.0.2 this weekend, and after configuring one PS3 gamepad on the RPi, plugging in the second PS3 via USB worked flawlessly! All the issues I read about must have been regarding older distro versions of RetroPie. I was also able to get both gamepads working on the onboard Bluetooth of the RPi3! Thank you for the help @obsidianspider and @Lyle_JP!

      @shanet94 unfortunately I'm a little dim when it comes to these types of things. I'd love to be able to help but I feel at this point a chocolate tea pot would be more help :) thanks again for your help.

      So I believe the issue is that emulationstation won't allow the video from mplayer to play over it. I've tried adding --ontop to the line in order to have it play over emulationstation, but that program always seems to be over mplayer, and I can only hear the audio of the video after emulationstation starts.

      @soonerdoc I tested sending buttons from the 360s directly and had the same results. I believe its an issue with rgbcommaner. no big deal if you don't mind errors but I do. I decided to go pc on this arcade build now. New os but new problems :). I'll checkin again but please contact me if you find a soultion.

      Please try this. It just links from /home/pi/retropie/roms to your USB drive /media/usb/roms

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2582/can-my-usb-device-have-data-on-it-already/5

      Please create ROMS folder on USB, fill your ROMS according to your systems.

      PSX games are located to /media/usb/roms/psx and so on....

      PS: The systems are not deleted. On your first attempt you seem to miss the correct configuration and so RetroPie can not find any ROMs and so no EMU-system is displayed. There is really nothing "deleted".

      Searching online this afternoon shows that a lot of people seem to have trouble with the low price Mayflash adapter. Raphnet Technologies BRD-4NES4SNES seems to not only work better, but the site expressly discusses use with RetroPie and even has addressed some of the issues people have encountered when using with RetroPie. I just ordered one and it should be here in a week or two.

      @obsidianspider
      you may have some issues in connecting and configuring the buttons of your bluetooth controllers. But once it's done, it's really easy to switch between the available controllers in RetroArch.

      Trying to ask your question "how does the system choose which controller to use?" (assuming system = RetroArch). Like I said in my first response, RetroArch define some indexes for the controllers. The default is player1 = index 0, player2 = index 1, and so on (I didn't make it clear in my first post). But you can change it in retroarch.cfg. What the RetroPie-Setup config editor and my joystick-selection tool do is just this: change these options in retroarch.cfg.

      BTW: the options related to what we are talking about here are input_player1_joypad_index, input_player2_joypad_index, etc...

      @seanr8 I'm having the exact same issue. I'm using the Huijia N64 adapter and the Project Venom N64 controller (from Amazon). Did you get anywhere with configuring this correctly and preventing the extra button presses?

      Thanks

      Yes, i am using wifi. And it seems so, that if it finds the network at First try, everything is fine exept the emulationstation cutting the video.

      And i Have allready disabled the USB ROM service, and it only got rid one of the initial two identical fail errors.

      And i Will try that delay sequence. Is the value in seconds?

      add "usbhid.quirks=0x289b:0x0002:0x040" (without quotes) to the end of the line in /boot/cmdline.txt. it will split the controller into two. Check out anything about the Xin-mo arcade controller to get more info, a lot of the same stuff applies
