Dolphin controls must currently be mapped via the GUI. You will need to drop down into terminal mode press F4 on your keyboard if you are currently in emulation station, hit the unity button and search for terminal. Click to launch.

Change to the Dolphin directory:

From there the graphical client will launch and you can bind your controller in the Dolphin Interface as well as change settings.

Exiting Dolphin

If you're using an updated version of dolphin-emu-nogui, now there is a fix, enabling the use of Esc key to exit. You can map this to a gamepad button using a keyboard -> gamepad mapper like joymap for non desktop environments or the more friendly antimicro under desktop environments.

For old dolphin builds, the only alternative is to exit dolphin is with the Keyboard combination Alt+F4.
