If you never updated in 2 years, then updating/reinstalling now produce the correct results.
Instead, open the retroarch.cfg file from \\retropie\configs\psx and make sure it only contains these lines:

    # Settings made here will only override settings in the global retroarch.cfg if placed above the #include line input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/psx/" #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

@toto2000 said in Which emu for ESPGALUDA 2 ?:

I thought that even 2D rendering could take advantage of OpenGL / Mesa 3. Fba uses that I think, for accelerating 2D rendering cycles...

It's not about being 2D or 3D, it's about being software or hardware rendered :

software renderer will render everything on a framebuffer then pass this to whatever backend is used for rendering hardware renderer will render the various elements using directly the gfx apis and let the gpu compose everything, meaning they are only compatible with the gfx apis they were written for

While it's totally possible to render a 2D sprite by directly using a gfx api, it was never done in either MAME or FBNeo.

I attempted some slight over clocking to no change in results what so ever.

Overclocking will never make your system MORE stable. It only increases the chances of instability. Please post all of your info requested here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first so that we can better help diagnose your issue.

Hey, @mitu, here is the photo that came up with the USB devices.IMG_2163.jpeg .

As to P1/P2 controllers, I configured only P1 and that did the trick for both.

As I'm writing this I realized my mistake and am horribly embarrassed! I just realized that "X" refers to button "X" and not keyboard "X". I reset my controls again to see which is "X" (I think in terms of Buttons A, B, C, etc.), and now I've been able to get into the menu and reconfigure. Problem solved. I really appreciate all the help!

@mitu said in Best way to scrape ONE GAME?:

Right now it looks like ScreenScraper has given back access to non-registered users, so scraping from EmulationStation (using ScreenScraper) should work.

It should be possible to use screenscraper.fr credentials within ES. Is there a reason why this isn't implemented?

I tried to reproduce the issue, but I don't seem to be able to. Using the same emulator (lr-mgba), with or without the BIOS, the save file is loaded correctly.
Can you check if you have enough space available on your USB ? The save file (in-game saves) is stored next to the ROM, it's named <ROMNAME>.srm, if you don't see one, then the emulator cannot save the file.

How are you mounting the USB stick to the system ? Did you follow the docs or did you do it manually ?

Try to test the encoder using jstest - (see here) - to check if the joystick and buttons produce correct results.

Is there a schematic you've followed to wire the joystick and buttons to make sure they're correctly wired ? Or does the encoder has labels for each connections indicating the correct wiring ?

Can you try adding over_voltage=1 to config.txt?

Thanks @mitu. Good news. I looked around but I couldn't find a log file but while I was looking I found a gamelist file and a videos folder in my Roms/Arcade folder. I deleted them and regenerated the gameslist in Skyscraper. The Arcade section now works perfectly.

    Thanks again

please file this under bad behaviour on my part. Updating the setup-script and getting from source again fixed it..
Thanks... sorry for the run around.

I can't find anything relevant to permissions. I've changed the title.

Now, to continue on your problem - add some info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. In particular, what version of RetroPie are you using and how did you install it ?

A little progress - there is very little, if any, documentation on using fs-uae in RetroPie.
I tried running a few games and kept getting a message that it wanted kick1.3.rom, so I renamed the kickstart 13. rom kick1.3.rom and then I would get a kickstart 1.3 splash screen but no more progress. I tried a few more games and finally Lemmings seemed to load, however this gets stuck at the Load Disc 2 screen?

So this is probably a configuration / path problem however I don't know how to resolve it?

Erm...I dont have a gamelists folder. Is that the cause? I do have a retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\gamelists\ folder though. If it is the one, every folder within there has a gamelist.xml file in. Is it the one in 'zxspectrum' im deleting? As that was the system I was using when it all went wrong?

Oops. Posted this on the wrong thread. Having an awesome day today! haha

@mitu ok good to know, i'll blow everything away and start from scratch. i must have glazed over the part about it not being supported on a DE. Also i was never planning on using vnc for it and figutred it would never work, was just using it for troubleshooting and setting up other things unrelated to retropie, im just to lazy to switch the input on my monitor :P

thanks for the info to you both, much appreciated.
