    @kbinthelbg This is not a MAME4Droid forum - it's a RetroPie forum. We don't include Mame4Droid in RetroPie, so you'd have more chances asking in a dedicate forum for this emulator.
    Having said that - take a look a the Arcade section of the docs to understand how arcade/MAME ROMs work, then find the right ROM (and possibly BIOS files) that match your Mame4Droid version.

    @RyanT Please give more details about your setup - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. What game/system are you trying to scrape and it's not working ? Give me a concrete example.

    @EpicWings You need to resize the 5Gb partition to take the rest of the 64 Gb of your USB disc.
    Use a live CD with System Rescue CD on your PC, boot it up, then insert your USB stick and resize the 2nd partition using GParted.

    @aussie-daredevil Then I recommend starting from scratch with the new disc, make sure it works, then transfer your files to it from your old drive - ROMs/artwork/etc. See the 2nd backup method explained in the docs - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#making-a-backup-option-2.

    well i just double checked which one i have just remove xboxdrv and tried to install xpad but ran in to the package that is unavailable of the linux-headers-generic and what i have been reading it is not available on Debian it goes by the Linux version and the architecture.

    (edit)
    well i manuly installed dkms then had to go in to the script in the retropi setup for xpad and comment out the depenicy for linux-headers-generic since the needed linux-headers for the current linux verson was automatically installed when i manually installed dkms so i commented it out so the installer would continue and install xpad and that worked.

    @eklynx It's not possible to selectively enable the hotkey for certain commands. It's a global selection - it's either enabled (and it's used for all hotkey shortcuts) or not (and the hotkey shortcuts execute without it).

    @mitu
    I used a Sandisk Ultra 32GB MicroSD HC I the first time and worked fine. The other memory stick I used is the Micro SDXC 10 256GB MicroSD XC 1 1 (This memory stick I the one that’s giving me troubles). The power supply I used was a EasyAcc 5V 2A Micro USB power supply. The raspberry pi zero w was purchased from the adafruit website.

  • How to work out resolution when using overscan?

    @canispeaktodave that makes sense. once you use overscan you're not using the native resolution, so blurring/artefacts.

    i believe the overscan settings are based on pixels, so assuming

    overscan_left=-12 overscan_right=15 overscan_top=-30 overscan_bottom=20

    you can work out the post-overscan resolution by applying the left and right numbers to the width (480), and the top and bottom numbers to the height (320)

    it's a bit confusing to me that you have positive and negative numbers in your overscan settings, though. that would seem to shift the image when normally you'd want to shrink it, but it's been a while since i played with that stuff.

    The shader is already present in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/shaders/retropie/ in a default installation. You need to use the RetroArch RGUI to load it, using the Shaders -> Load Shader preset menu.
    How are you trying to load the Shader ? Here's a handy

    showing you how to load a shader.

    @stoney66 Thanks for that.

    I had a look at those cfg files and they all looked fine.

    So I did a completely fresh install of RetroPie.

    Tried it out, R-Type controls worked fine.

    Then I started adding nice tweaks such as ES Themes etc, and suddenly R-Type had the same problem - P1 right not working unless I re-configure the MAME2003 controls every time.

    Not sure what change I applied that caused this, so I'm going to do it all again step-by-step and see when it reoccurs.

    My gut feeling is this is a bug in the Pimoroni Picade HAT drivers.

    Here are some settings for Conker's Bad Fur Day:
    ~mupen64plus.cfg

    [Video-Rice] #This will fix the colored black tail and a few other things. Sometimes this setting isn't found in the cfg. #I think it loads only hi-res textures for when there are far away objects it would load lo-res. LoadHiResTextures = True #This will fix the transparency of the fence. NormalAlphaBlender = True

    It might be possible to add these to the .ini files for the specific game. But I'm going to move on to other things for a while and probably won't get back to this. There are some settings that improve performance and I don't know exactly which ones these were, I could post my entire plugin configuration if someone wanted it. The setting for the dancing toadstools remains to be found, maybe I imagined it.

    And here are two settings for Starcraft 64:
    ~mupen64plus.cfg

    [Video-GLideN64] #The game fails without this, however it slows down the menus immeasurably. BackgroundsMode = 1 #FBinfo needed for scroll updates in-game, however the logos at the beginning are no longer able to be seen. DisableFBInfo = False

    I realize this topic is old now, but after recently updating the xpad driver in RetroPie-Setup, I was suddenly able to map L2/R2 in X-input mode. So whatever update was added to the xpad driver, it seems to have resolved this mapping issue, or at least how the driver reads the L2/R2 inputs on 8bitdo controllers. So this issue is now resolved for me.

    I can map the "parameter" keys 0-9 by hitting "Tab" to bring up the MAME menu, and the game will work fine until I close out and re-open it....then those settings aren't saved. Does anybody else have that problem?
