    @matchaman Ah, I misunderstood the concurrently part. I don't think it's possible from within the emulator, but maybe something external to combine the 2 inputs into 1 virtual gamepad (like xboxdrv ).

    @rkoster Ah, Nice! I'll have to dig into the xml files for Carbon since that's what I'm using. I don't have much expertise in that area, but it doesn't look like it would be too much trouble with a little tinkering. Maybe someone who has done it on Carbon will chime in as well before I get a chance to.. :D

    Thanks!

    Ah no - the problem is another rename happened but the change to the docs generation code wasn't yet merged. I have merged it and will regenerate.

    [edit] it's fixed.

    @steptoe 1TB SD-Cards are available from SanDisk for about 450 Euro.
    Of course this is much more than a HDD would cost!, but there are Freaks like me and the Threadstarter, that dont want external Hardware connected to the Pi.
    Concerning the loading times: i dont care about that. Imo its fast anyway compared to loading times of a C64 😊
    I does not matter to me if a game loads in 2.5 or 2.2 seconds ☺

    But of course thats my cup of tea, everyone should do as he like!

    0.37b5 should provide pretty much everything for 'classic' arcade games and will easily run on the PI3 B, MAME 0.106 is the last release for the PI and this should still work ok for the vast majority of games and will still run on the PI 3B

    MAME version NEED a specific ROM set as each version of MAME has updates and redumps or better dumps of ROMs that were not working earlier, which is why MAME fails if you don't have the ROMs to match

    I do have a set of ROMs that I picked up looking for some help on how to create a custom ROM set with only working ROMs and came across the set by accident that has ONLY the working versions of each game, and the best ones of FBA or MAME. with a lot of the redundant games removed. Easy to install and comes with very simple instructions to basically copy over and its ready to go. Try searching for "wills arcade set". Thats all the help I can give

    Never every unzip the MAME ZIP files. FBA and MAME need the files zipped, one of the few emulators that MUST be zipped for it to work as it should

    There are a lot of clones and games that are non-working and some where only the clones work. This improved with later revisions of MAME but the PI can't run the later games due to sheer processing power required

    @mitu thank you Mitu!!! 👍😎

    The BIOS Files are in the rom folder of "AdvanceMame".
    It were about 40, which i renamed to (i.e.) "ZZZ BIOS - CPS1" to get them all together on the bottom of the gamelist and hide them.
    As mentioned the only two ones that are still visible since a couple of weeks in full mode are Akklaim PSX and Naomi.
    It does not really disturb me!!!, but i will Post the filenames as soon as i am back on my Pi 😉

    @Parabolaralus
    Yeah I'll either figure it out or install linux (what is a good distro for dell laptops?). This pc I found at a garbage dump, the hard drive was failing, the battery shot, and it was a little beaten up from being discarded. I restored it with a ssd, and a new battery.
    I think it came with windows 7, but there was no sticker on the back.

    I downloaded the USB Windows 10 upgrade from microsoft, these were free upgrades some time ago. I had assumed Education postulating that it would activate for free, but I have no qualifications for those terms.

    Back on topic:
    ExFat has been working great with allocation unit size 8192b.
    NTFS-3g may have been a problem in particular with dosbox because of the write syncs.

    I think the default emulator is lr-snes9x-2010.
    Try installing using lr-snes9x, (latest 1.60(?)) found in optional packages.

    The patch needs to be applied to a non-headered rom, though if it is working at all then it is probably the right one.

    You can use 7zip to check the CRC-32.
    The patched rom should have
    CRC32 9C0C7C6B
    And the non-headered without patch should be.
    CRC32 C17ECBA5

    The patch can be applied with lunar-ips. Or if the .ips patch shares the same name as the .sfc then snes9x will load the patch sidebyside without needing to change the japanese non-headered rom.

    If you both patch the rom and the patch is loaded sidebyside then it might do something like you described. This only if the .ips shares the same name and is in the same folder and it has additionally been patched with lunarips.

    Compatibility varies with the different versions of snes9x, there is a good chance that is all that you need.
