@megafacehead No worries, whatever you are comfortable with. As for a fresh install there is nobody on this forum who would not recommend doing it. Pre-made images can be full of junk, unknown tweaks, configs and who knows what else... In fact a lot of people probably didn't even bother with trying to help you once the saw you mentioned buying a pre-made image. You can back up the ROMs folder to your PC and then just transfer it back after a clean install. That'll save you some time.

You don't even have to configure it to acces it trough windows. The Pi automatically created the network folders. In Windows just enter \\retropie\ in the directory bar and hit enter. You'll see a couple folders, open the ROMS folder and upload the roms into the correct console folder.

Which system? When you post about a problem try to be specific. I think its the MAME games who don't work? You did update the emulator which requires a newer romset. You need to rebuild the romset to the required version for the emulator and it will work.

It seems to be quite simple "they" say....if you know how to compile on Linux (which I barely even know what that is ;)

If my memory serves I got some of it to work following this tutorial. And this was 2 months ago but I had some problems with it... I think it was something like I got WiFi to work, but then when I got to the Bluetooth part of the directions I wouldn't get that to work in addition to the WiFi (or the WiFi bricked the bluetooth or vice versus....I just gave up - it's NOT worth it to me to spend like 10+ hours on something everybody is telling me is already baked into the software (and/or how it's "so easy" to compile the drivers yourself...). Still have the dongle gathering dust though...

Regardless, all this is kinda pointless for the Zero's now that the W (wireless and Bluetooth) model came out - and cheaper to just buy that instead of this combo dongle.

@herb_fargus Thanks. I wasn't sure how that worked. So it's essentially a smart redirect that says if the drive is installed to ignore that directory on the SD card, but if the USB drive isn't there, then fall back and use the directory SD card.

Nuke them? Heh, are you secretively running an underground 0day box lol. You can enable root and connect to the Pi trough your PC via an FTP browser such as FlashFXP, you can immediately browse trough all dirs remove files etc.

Solved it by turning down the brightness of my TV a bit.

@MadRikXIV if you remove the mic chip and capacitor on the original board you could rewire that volume slider on the board to be used

My psu is made by RS and its rated at 1.2A - It was the one recommended at the time (bear in mind it only a pi 1B!)

I have also tried inputting all the inputs from the main xbox config file in the snes/retroarch.cfg file without success.

I have since noticed however that the controls work in snes9x2005 (but not 2002?)

Hopefully its just a bad commit thats fixed fairly shortly. Interestingly I tried it (With both Zero & ZeroW) with a USB Wifi dongle and this actually hard locks the system after a few minutes, whereas a previous image works without any issues so clearly something going on surrounding wifi/network.

Or alternatively there's a prebuilt image with AM ready to go and you just add media, etc.
