I couldn’t find anything in Retropie 4.6 beta.

    From the 4.6 announcement:

    RetroArch updated to v1.8.5.

Support for real CD ROM, with the ability to dump the disc image.

I found a YouTube video using Retroarch but it mentions a download folder which I don’t have.

    Try looking in \\retropie\configs\all\retroarch\downloads

I also have no cores in Retroarch with which to play the disc.

What disc did you rip ?

I am blogging about this exact topic, and have experimented a lot with the Pi 4B and different coolers as well as clock speeds.
With the latest firmware and stock clocks, you can expect to run about 20 minutes of high load before thermal throttling kicks in, with a decent passive heatsink for less than a buck.
However, active cooling is absolutely necessary if you want to even slightly overclock your Pi 4B, or prevent thermal throttling when running for longer periods of time, or both.
I personally recommend this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133351554298?ViewItem=&item=133351554298
For me, it was a little more expensive ( around 15€) since I live outside of the United Kingdom, but it was absolutely worth it.
It is hands down the best price/performance case I have seen so far, and I have personally tested 6 cases and more than 20 cooling solutions so far.
With this, I managed an overclock from 1500/500 (CPU/GPU) to 2100/750 at 56°C max temp after 1 hour of stressberry 4 core testing with the cooler at 5V, it goes up to 65°C when the fan is at 3.3V, so even with a 40%/50% overclock and the fan slowed down for silence, it is still far from throttling.
You can further decrease temperatures by using a bigger (up to 7mm high, up to 40x40 broad and long) heatsink, or using copper instead of aluminium, but as you can see from these temps, it is not necessary.

Yeah, it's looking for OpenGL and can't find it. Case closed.
Finds my gamepad though and then bails out:

I have the same problem when I try to install Lakka, rétropie impossible to force the resolution to 1920x1080

You're mentioning a resolution setting, but your error in the first post is from EmulationStation. Post your config.txt and the output from tvservice -m DMT.

Disabling the OpenGL driver is not supported and RetroPie (and the majority of the emulators) will not work without it.

@njsilvestri21 what is the make and model of your tv you are using? Some 4k TV's only support 60hz on one particular HDMI port and some off brands don't support 4k60 at all. But just an fyi, RetroPie performs much better at 1080p.

You can use overlays to disable them, in your config.txt add

    pi3-disable-wifi
    pi3-disable-bt

    This has been documented [here].(https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/blob/master/boot/overlays/README)

Argh, dammit - I thought I just can redefine the joypad-mapping, because the dialogue said "1 Joypad detected" :-X
    Works, thanks :-)

Just in case anyone else comes across this I got it working. It wasn't easy and took some trial and error, there isn't very much documentation out there about the inner workings of the asound.conf file but I must have read it all.

The asound.conf file needs to look like this. Obviously if your usb sound card is a different number or you didn't disable the default sound output of the pi yours might be a little differnt bit this should mean you get no errors about mixers and both game sound and background music on ES play ok all through the left channel only.

    pcm.custom { type plug slave { pcm "dmix:1,0" } ttable { # Copy both input channels to output channel 0 (Left). 0.0 1 1.0 1 # Send nothing to output channel 1 (Right). 0.1 0 1.1 0 } } ctl.custom { type hw card S2 } pcm.!default pcm.custom ctl.!default ctl.custom

Does every NAOMI-Rom need a CHD?

No, the chd are only required for games that were on optical media, in this case the zip file only contains some stuff to decrypt the chd and sometimes a default eeprom.

Actually, it did work but instead of adding these lines I uncommented the same in the config file and just changed the values. Thank you very much for you fast and adequate response.

@lupsyn Those settings are for the Libretro core, not for the standalone Mupen64 emulator. Did you try running your games with the lr-mupen64plus or lr-mupen64plus-nx cores ?

@BuZz Brilliant. That's great!!! This will save me a lot of time as I have a 256GB microSD card full of ROMS and scraped covers. Thanks for your reply.
