Ok, managed to get all my controls on the correct sides, only issue I have now is I cannot have start and select working on both player 1 and 2. This also causes me not to be able to exit a game back to the main menu by pressing start and select. Any ideas ?

Same here. Checke the USB-ID with lsusb and added the line at the end of my config.txt. Still only one controller is found.

Is there a way to check if the USBHID is actually loaded? Something to verify/probe what is going on why js1 isn't available?

Using Retropie 4 on a Raspi 3.

@Shizzmoney you have a /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg file - this is not created by default so I assume you copied the system one from /etc/emulationstation to customise it ? You will need to keep it up to date if overriding the system one in `/etc/emulationstation

PS: some usb keyboards also dont work properly, so if the password is hidden with dots/stars you cant be sure you wrote the correct password

Is there a way to show the password to verify it is being entered correctly?

@Shizzmoney you don't need to copy it to add extensions. Just create a file /opt/retropie/configs/all/platforms.cfg with a line fds_exts=".nes .fds .zip" (with your extensions and update the emulator in question.

If we have a missing extension though it should be reported back to me :-)

@BuZz Thanks for the insight here. So installing then uninstalling the PS3 drivers had fixed the permission issues. I was able to attach the controller and configure the inputs. Thanks!! We can mark this one solved.

I have tried using the hotkeys on SNES controller with and without the Xbox controller connected. Both times it didn't work.

I agree, it sounds like it's just the RetroArch emulators without sound. I also think it might be a setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

RetroPie comes with a backup of their custom all retroarch.cfg with default settings. It is located here:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg.rp-dist

You could test with default settings by backing up your original retroarch.cfg and then copy retroarch.cfg.rp-dist to retroarch.cfg.

Nope did it myself. Bought a Pi3 for a present, fixed it all up, and I just want to be able to copy that image to my old Pi2. Thanks for the info, I will try updating after I've written the image.

One more thing, if you sent up a Manual overclock on the Pi3, you'll want to probably edit the bood config.txt or it might cause issues on the Pi2 as it can't run at those speeds.

Again, I haven't do it that way, but I dod go from a Pi2 to a Pi3 and it kept my "screaming" 1000 Mhz overclock on the Pi3 until I manually edited the boot config.

Following up on my own thread.

After my great experience with four controllers, two wireless and two wired, I decided to bite the bullet and order two more NES30's. Works great so far. Granted I've only played Super Bomberman 3 with four controllers, but I haven't seen any anomalies.

@noon That would probably require ES to be modified to either catch a SIGTERM signal and perform its normal shutdown procedures, or could have it check for the existence of a trigger file to shut down. Either of which are not very difficult to implement.

Perhaps you can post this suggestion in the Ideas and Development section of the forum.

@Septcanmat glad you got it sorted. there are two versions of Raspbian, one with the desktop environment, the other without(Raspbian lite) obviously the RetroPie sd image is built on Raspbian lite.
