Got it working. This required a visit to Atari Age to understand what was going on.

There are some protections in A800 disks that lr-Atari800 can't get around but Altarri can. This was one of them, hence the odd error message. The emulator reads the disk, but it's not jumping over the sector of copy protection.

I was graciously given a "newer" version of CA that had the protections removed.

This is weird. New dongle arrived and inserted. No change. RetroPie not detecting, pairing or connecting anything. We're always told to disable onboard bluetooth. Just for the heck of it, I decided to ENABLE onboard bluetooth. Gee, what do you think happened? RetroPie detected the Wiimote, paired the Wiimote and connected the Wiimote. Tried a few reboots to make sure everything continued working and all is fine. If anyone has an explanation for that, I'd love to hear it. I'm just happy I can play Wii games again!

    @batman

I had this problem so I feel your pain. Unfortunately, the scrape sources for games on the RetroPie can pull down videos that aren't encoded in a way that EmulationStation can run properly.

To get by this I use Skyscraper to download everything and build the Gameslist.xml file.

Then I go to: https://emumovies.com and get them from there. They are encoded perfectly and work great. They are a good resource for everything really.

I would recommend creating an account, then you can use their FTP server to download everything easily. - https://emumovies.com/ftpdetails/

Once you do that copy and replace your already downloaded videos with these. I literally just did all of this during this week for my MAME collection so I know it works and it will help you out.

It would be cool if the RetroPie could use them as a Scrape source.

@dankcushions thank you for the info, your support here has been great over the years. So until kms is fully tested and an official update on Retropie is implemented, I will wait. Do you know if when this update drops, will the users have to go in and make sure all the videosnap .mp4 files are ready for the change ?

i don't use videos so can't answer this point. omxplayer will not work in kms as it relied on the old stack. what that means in terms of video capabilities i don't know.

Now my task to tackle will be figuring out how to flip the screen for player 2.

this part might involve dipswitches, other clones, or maybe the service menu. look for options to enable cocktail mode, etc.

Instructions are based on Ubuntu 16.04 but works just the same on newer versions: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/

@colstar since that's not the version of any of our recommended arcade emulators in my previous link (or indeed any of the supported arcade emulators in retropie at all), i would forget it and acquire the set for one of them instead.

Note: The Argon Case does not allow you to access the PoE, the MIPI display port and MIPI camera connector.

The Pi Neo does have all those available though https://www.argon40.com/media/catalog/product/cache/01bd92052dc2a38e1c05a8994d8ff250/1/1/11.png
But assuming the Geekworm also connects to the CPU and GPU it does seem like the better option to use inside an arcade.

@mitu Ha ha, hard to believe we are in April and I'm still trying to connect the XB1S controller and get games working in Retropie!

I installed xpadneo and have managed to pair the controller, but 2 issues remain.

Cannot select the Xbox home button when configuring the controller. I wanted to select it as the 'hotkey'. Even if I choose 'Yes' at the end of the setup when asked if you want 'select' as the hotkey, Start and Select wont exit out of the games.

After starting a game in retropie you are taken to a blue menu screen with various options (choose emulator, launch ect.) Left stick on the controller is the only way to navigate and to move down I have to kind of move it left and down (SW on the compass as an example) and pressing A does nothing unless I keep pressing it over and over.
Two more things - The cursor underneath the 'OK' in the blue menu screen is flashing really fast (it stops if I turn off the controller and if I plug in a wired controller it behaves normally) + if I am in a blue menu screen that has 'OK' and 'Cancel' down the bottom it continuously swaps between them.
So the controller has a mind of it's own. I can also confirm that the controller 100% works, I have tried it on the PC and Xbox.

Maybe I should erase the SD card and start from scratch? Although I'm not sure how much more time and effort I can invest in getting this working......

So, is the doc page obsolete or is there something I missed ?

The .cfg must contain the full file name, including the extension. So it's Rayman.cue.cfg, not just Rayman.cfg.

You' re right. Thanks a lot.
