@tuki_cat The only problem was that 33% of times it failed to boot a game. I can’t understand why it’s impossible now to run any game at decent speed. Everything is 2x too slow.

@chubsta If you are having problems, why not try finding those games on on other platforms? I also wanted to play Chuckie Egg, but I grew up playing it on a BBC Micro, and as yet Retropie doesn't support those, however there is an Atari ST version, which presumably would have better graphics than the Speccy one. Reading your post triggered that thought, and I found it today, and am hopefully going to find out how it works sometime this week.

Hi, this is an old issue, but I just configured mine RetroPie few days ago.
I don't want overclock my device, this can means a risk for me. So, I was playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater, and I think the same issue was happening.
The solution for me was reduce the video quality (also the video clock) and skip the sound of music while playing (the music I needed to change on Game configuration trying to skip the Audio system calls).

As software developer I know some error happens on the game and emulator prints a lot's of messages behind the game. I think if I know the shell commend to make the N64 Retro Pie Emulator skip the log messages the game can run even better.
If anyone knows a command like this please tell me.

    Thank you

@clyde That's it! The KISS principle. I like that one.

@sub_atomic I hope we did not "scare you away" from setting up a remote connection. Just take your time, read up on how to do it properly and you'll be fine.

But doing it together with your nephew is a thing that I can 100% second. Passing on the love for and knowledge of tinkering and a little coding and IT stuff is always something good. :)

    Cheers!

@thelostsoul said in Game name not rom name:

The scraper should work. You must Exit EmulationStation and then start the scraper.

The scraper menu even says that prominently.

I also noticed at the bottom of the Retroarch menu my image says Game & Watch 1.6.3 but the premade image says Game & Watch 1.1 .
Any ideas on what i need to do to get this working properly. I had donkey kong 2 as a kid so it would be great to get i working on my own image.

@mitu Certainly noted. I honestly never really drew a distinction between both sets of info. I just always assumed one was as good as the other. As I said, I'll definitely keep it in mind and use the pretty docs page for future reference.

@a12c4 I think that it chooses, depending on the front-end, which tags are supported it only adds the ones it knows they're ok. I've only used it for the image (mix) and marquee.

@doubleeuroz It's been a while since I installed this way but I'm almost sure that synaptic is included when you install the LXDE/PIXEL Desktop on top of Raspbian Lite.

Ok, I noticed that the Retroarch setup screen was the blue menu (older version?) vs the green checkered menu so I was really worried about some sort of weird corruption so I restored the image from a backup and all is now well again.

Friendly reminder of the importance of good backups! :-)

Incidentally, does anyone know know what the difference is between the blue menu and the green checkered menu in Retroarch? Is the blue version an older version?

Hi @mediamogul @herb_fargus @wmodes ! Since I've had so much help from everyone on this site getting my own Pie setup, I wanted to go ahead and share my zmachine gamelist along with scraped data that's mostly complete as far as I know.

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/uww54ob9zq3aa12/zmachine_gamelist_v01.zip

Obviously goes without saying this doesn't include the actual roms, but if you have your own should be fairly easy to get stuff in the right place. Let me know if anyone has thoughts on improvements. Thought about videos for example, but seems like overkill given that it's a text based game ;)
