      For anyone who may come across this same problem, to solve it I had to set everything up how I needed it including BIOS roms configurations, and only once I was happy did I run all of the updates and all appears to be working normally again now

      @hankola copied them via file manager and how I previously did it which was going via \RETROPIE.
      think I might need to do a clean install again

      @eldrethor My understanding was that it dumps the ROMs at load time, though I can understand it holding on to them for future use to speed things up.

      Hey buddy the way i did it which is quite easy is take the bios and put it in the USB section along with your psx games section. (I know that isnt right but bear with me).
      Plug your USB in like always and wait for upload to finish after done press F4 in the emulation station window to bring up a terminal and type in the following:
      cd home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/
      exactly like that then type in:
      ls
      You should see the SCHP1001.BIN file or whatever in this folder near the top i think, if so type the following command:
      mv SCPH1001.BIN /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/
      that will move the file from the USB for you this should fix the issue.
      If the first command isnt working follow this video from 1:20

      Hope this helps, glhf.

      @willreaper neo geo has several possible emulators that they could work on. You might want to try as many as possible to find a working one. I recommend trying lr-fbalpha and lr-fbalpha2012

      @Shmeter.man are you using a thumb drive to put the bios on? There are issues with the sega cd bios' and that method. Use something like winscp to put the bios files on.

      @Lovelyboi said in PS1 - PSX:

      @Darksavior So, do you need a rom and .bin file for every game? What about the BIOS. Is that just one file for all games? Thanks for the help. I'm waaay new to all of this.

      You can read the link I posted for the supported file formats. I prefer to just download converted .pbp's due to being smaller in size and are only one file, which makes for a neater library.

      As for the bios, yes, one file. There's different version numbers of the bios that exist. Just choose one.

      @Everett1954

      When you install/remove emulators, that gets updated in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg but if you also have /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg, well that one will take precedence but it doesn't get updated so you have to manually update it.

      Good to know. lr-bluemsx works pretty well in most situations. I forget why I switched over to OpenMSX. It may have had something to do with peripheral support.

      @TMNTturtlguy I am using a Sandisk 32 gb ultra, bought in the store. And I was trying to write my image back to this same card after a full format (first I wipe the Linus partition with a quick format in my Sony camera, then I do a full (overwrite) format , with 'format size adjustment' to On in sdformatter). It's really odd but there are more reports about this issue.
      rpi-clone is a better alternative imo if you want to use the same size card (or smaller) for a back up

      @RobotLimeLtd That is not the default for retropie - default retropie has

      # Sets the "system" directory. # Implementations can query for this directory to load BIOSes, system-specific configs, etc. system_directory = "/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS"

      in configs/all/retroarch.cfg - perhaps you overwrote the config?

      @milok Useful for me, my gf deleted the retroarch.cfg and the one it autogenerates apparently is completely different from the default one? A lot of stuff is changed, including the entire psx interface for retroarch, and bios location.

      @dsfrancis that probably wont work. Rename a file from .bin to .sg . Then restart emulationstation and test. Will probably work that way.

      @razinx if you really want to hide the bios files, you can open the zip and add the contents to the zip for the game that requires that bios.

      So the contents of pgm.zip could be added into kov.zip, and you wouldn't have that bios showing up in ES. Now of course this will make your roms bigger and so your set will be bigger.
