@sobeitjedi said in New Setup - USB Controllers dont seem accurate?:

      Any advice?

Use jstest from the command line and see how responsive the controllers are. Run from the command line

      jstest /dev/input/js0

then start pressing buttons to see how fast the output is changed on the screen.

Also, add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Thank you, but when the second controller is plugged in P1 cannot hotkey out. Both controllers have to be pulled and P1 reinserted to quit. Any ideas?

      @KN4THX
The problem it's not the hotkey, a lot of NES games use the select button for doing things in game.
I'm a medium-skilled developer, with some guidance on the retropie bluetooth scripts and stack I could write myself a script which does in background the pairing procedure again, at least with one model, the SN30.
If someone is willing to help or pointing me to who ask questions to, i'll be happy to try to write then publish such script.

      Hi Eisbergsalat

I bought an EasySMX controller recently for retropie use, but I can't for the life of me get retropie to recognise it at all. Did you do anything different to get it recognised, i.e. load any additional modules etc?

      Thanks

      Evan

This is just an example but you would have to be looking for a controller like this one that would work with what you wantalt text

Yes, that's correct. You have a gamepad, so the syntax would include the btn part, as you've already noticed - I realized after posting the example that the configuration part is covering the default keyboard mapping in RetroArch.

Using the RGUI you can also check what values are assigned to each button, just to check if your mapping are considered. Note that you cannot use 1 single gamepad for 2 players - as you've posted, RetroArch doesn't support that (it does support to use 1 keyboard for 2 players though).

@akamming I’m in the same boat as you as far as running an ipac2 in redream. I can’t seem to configure my input for more than one controller per port. Can you please walk me through how to get it up and running. I did read what you did for a workaround but I’m pretty new to the raspberry pi and found it a little hard to understand. Thanks in advance!

@Marconemusic If I understand you correctly, everything works except Mame Controls are not mapped how you want, is that correct? If this is true, it sounds like you have to remap your controls for mame emulator. I have an arcade cabinet and when I mapped my controls, I mapped my joystick as D-Pad. I have no analog stick mapped with my joysticks. If I use an Xbox One Controller, I map everything accordingly but outside of that, I don't have an analog stick mapped.

Even when I did use my Xbox One controller, Mame and Final Burn did not recognize my analog stick. If Mame is the only thing mapped incorrectly, try remapping your controls for Mame. You can hit tab on your keyboard within Mame and you can set your controller mapping there for the General mapping or for each game.

If your Emulation Station also isn't mapped correctly, you may have to remap the controls for that input device. One time I had issues when I was building mine and controllers got reversed between player one and 2 when I didn't plug my inputs into the same USB port they were before. When I plugged in them in how I had it, it fixed that issue.

I don't know much about two player, but try pulling the plug, then plugging it back in without controllers. You'll get to the configure screen. Configure your second controller if it is unconfigured then press any button on your player 1 controller to get to Emulation Station. I don't know but theoretically it should work fine.

@Dj-EKI If you'd like that combo to open the menu, then open RetroArch from the RetroPie system in EmulationStation, set the option and then save your configuration.
To leave a game, you'll have to use either a Hotkey + Start - which you don't want - or disable the Hotkey and choose another button for the exit hotkey. Pressing that button will automatically exit the game.
