      @meleu said in Setting up two different controllers with different button maps on one game:

      @joelf It's a good question, but I'm afraid there's no way to do that with pure RetroArch configs.

      This is what I thought. I was hoping that retroarch has some way of telling what controller is what, but I wasn't expecting much. I could use the core remap to make player 1 & 2 always arcade layout, and player 3 & 4 always pad style, then hope that the individual roms don't care what position the actual player is in to start a 2 player game, but I think i'd run into issues a lot more than what I am already doing.

      @chorlton2080 You didn't as you provided none of the requested information in the post - but with your attitude, you are unlikely to find any help here (or last very long on this forum).

      I wish I could help with your direct issue, but if you can't get it to work, you could always purchase the N64 controllers by 8bitdo&retrobit.

      @meleu Hey, thank you for the steps! The problem as described in that other thread certainly sounds like what's happening with me.

      This doesn't seem to solve my problem, unfortunately. Something I did notice - in the RetroArch config file, after I set the Bluetooth controller up as Player 2, it still gives me this:

      input_player2_b = "nul"
      input_player2_b_btn = "nul"
      input_player2_b_axis = "nul"
      input_player2_y = "nul"
      input_player2_y_btn = "nul"
      input_player2_y_axis = "nul"
      input_player2_select = "nul"
      input_player2_select_btn = "nul"
      input_player2_select_axis = "nul"
      input_player2_start = "nul"
      input_player2_start_btn = "nul"
      input_player2_start_axis = "nul"
      input_player2_up = "nul"

      It also still gives me the same problem if I set the Bluetooth controller as player 1 and then manually edit the input_player1_ button variables to represent the buttons on the Bluetooth controller. Nothing changes.

      I wonder if a fresh RetroPie install and configuring via RGUI is necessary, like the last guy did. Any thoughts?

      @I_Died_Once
      My iBuffalo also mapped like this. In the Mame emulator use tab to get to the general control configurations and use a combination of a keyboard and your controller to properly map the inputs.

      @marie011101 3rd party images can't be supported here as we don't know how they've been configured. You'd be best either finding out who Dean is, where he can be contacts and how he has configured this image. Or, the better option, would be to download the official RetroPie image from here and starting with that.

      @Adman1020 Yes, i have both a new and an old ps4 controller. The new one works with the blue tooth and you do not need any additional drivers, however I found it to be unreliable at times, when i used the ps4 controller one with a usb dongle it works perfectly all the time. Instead of dealing with issues from time to time, i decided to buy a dongle. You don't need one, it just works better. Just like the old ps4 controller will work with the ds4drv driver, they just work better with the USB receiver in my experience.

      For the RetroArch cores, a good place to start is here:

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration#custom-retroarch-override-examples

      As for everything else, the individual pages for each system details controller mapping.

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Supported-Systems

      You can also use external mapping software if you find any of the default methods lacking. Linux Joystick Mapper is one to consider as well as xboxdrv. Below is a guide to setting up xboxdrv on a per-emulator basis that deals directly with RetroPie:

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Universal-Controller-Calibration-&-Mapping-Using-xboxdrv

      If you have a Ps4 controller, you can use that one. If you need to buy one, I recommend a ps3 controller because they are way cheaper and you have the same functionality as the Ps4 controller.

      well i just tried my wifi card on all three usb ports, and it can see the network without issues, so all three usb ports must be functioning.
      I tried a confirmed working keyboard, and two confirmed working gamepads and they arent detected, not in a fresh instal or in the one with the GPIO keyboard.

      very strange. I will open a new thread on this subject with a better title in the hope of getting some help.

      Like what BuZz said, you need to give us more information so we can help:
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

      Also, please read this document:
      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Dreamcast/#controls

      You probably just need to edit your controller's configuration file for Reicast/Dreamcast.

      Hello! I've successfully connected my Xbox One Controller (model 1708) to my Pi3B via bluetooth, had to disable ERTM too. All buttons (including 'select') working. Using RetroPie 4.2

      However, when I tried adding in my second Xbox One Controller (same model), It connected and mapped perfectly. When I tried configuring inputs in RetroArch, both controllers and USB keyboard stopped working.

      I had to reboot and remove both controllers' BT connection and re-add the first one, it worked fine. Then tried and hooked up the second Xbox One Controller via USB to no avail. Tried it with a PS3 (via USB) worked fine.

      Anybody know what's going on? What am I doing wrong?
      Thanks!

      Sorry for not replying earlier guys, and thanks for the replies!

      @TMNTturtlguy I tried pressing TAB when in-game (lr-quicknes). Nothing happens. I can control the game fine from the keys however. I'll try to find Select+Y on the keyboard!

      @BuZz I removed the device, switched 8bitdo hack ON and added it back again. Didn't help. Then I realized I need to remap the controls in ES, which worked. Thanks!

      @Danorak1981 yes, updating is the best fix! But the Zero gamepads can't be updated I'm afraid.
      Funny thing, I have one older Zero gamepad and one slightly newer. The hack is needed for the old one but not the new one (and the Zero can't be updated).

      I received my 8bitdo Zero 2 days back, still no luck configuring together with other 8bitdo controllers. Maybe downgrading the other 8bitdo controllers and switching the hack mode to on could help to get them to work all at the same time..
