Use the default retroarch.cfg - leave aside all the hard sync settings (I don't think they're relevant for the Pi's GPU) and the audio settings. Also, a GPU mem of 256 is more than enough for most emulators, so I don't see any point in upping it to 512.

Well, then what about manual build retroarch and emulationstation? Which flags do I need? And how configure emulationstation work with retroarch?

Some mouse-only games are still setup to use just controllers and not the attached mouse/keyboard when you use the WHDLoad version. Populous, for example. I don't know what i need to do to unset that, so I can't make any suggestion for you on this either (if it's the case).

My only other suggestion would be to disconnect your controllers before firing up an amiga game and/or switch USB ports so that your mouse and keyboard are on the lower port numbers (0 and 1).

I'll have to figure out how to install "lr-beetle-wswan" onto the Pi-Zero. Probably via Command line if the pre-packaged software doesn't have it loaded up by default.

It's part of the 'Getting Started' docs section - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#updatinginstalling-individual-packages

@RpiBeginner just wanted to point out that your screenshot is 'aplay -l', and the instructions say 'aplay -L'. You need the capital L option to get the right output. That will allow you the correct name of the audio card.

Each audio card has one or more audio mixers (audio devices) on the audio card. Emulationstation needs to know which audio mixer to use on the audio card when you do the volume up and down. To find that out you need to use 'amixer scontrols -D <AudioCard>', where <AudioCard> is replaced by the name of your audio card you got in the previous step. I know from your screenshot that your audio card is set to the 'default', so you should run 'amixer scontrols -D default'. That command should show you the correct name of the audio mixer on your 'default' audio card. It will most likely be called 'Digital' or something like that. Please note that you must copy the name exactly as it is printed.

Those two commands above will give you the settings you need.

The first command gives you the name of the audio card you select in emulationstation, which is 'default' (based on your screenshot).

The second is the name of the audio mixer (audio device) on that audio card, which you'll need to run yourself to get.

That would be all you need to get around for most things... Except video sounds. RPI uses OMX player to play the sounds from video files, and they need a third setting! This setting looks different again from the ones we got earlier. The format is:

      'hdmi:hw:0,0'

That setting will use the first mixer on the first audio card for video sounds. If that setting doesn't work then you should try 'hdmi:hw:0,1', which will use the second mixer on the first audio card.

Hopefully that will give you all the information you need right there. Remember that if you cannot select the setting directly from within emulationstation you can add the setting directly to the es_settings.cfg itself . Please see the instructions page I linked to earlier for more details if you need to do that.

Hope this all helps! Good luck.

Could be a throttling issue. I have decided to move the amiga games one folder at a time into the roms folder.
So I will scrape all games beginning with A in the roms folder.
I'll then do the same with B etc and create a number of gamelist.xmls
I'l then do a merge of the gamelist.xmls and edit it to point to the correct folders.

A bit of work but it should hopefully do the trick rather than scraping all at once in different folders.

      Regards
      Jimi

As from time to time I still have the sudo password prompt hitting me back on a system where I can't change /etc/sudoers and this is one of the first Google results: sudo password will be requested if you changed the runcommand configuration to set the CPU governor to something that is not default. It'll request password during game launch and after the game ends (to restore previous value).

So, solutions are, like described above, add entries to /etc/sudoers or change runcommand config to not touch CPU governor.

@BadFurDay said in Retropie - Attract mode question:

@darkmenace That setting should boot Attract Mode into the last display it was on before you quit it last time. You need to quit for it to work though, if you force shutdown or pull the power it won't save where you were. You should set a button for exit (not just back) and exit it from Attract Mode while on your Arcade display. If you then do force shutdowns or pull the power you won't need to do this again.

When you exit Attract Mode does it go to terminal or have you set it to shutdown?

Thanks again BFD. It is now working as expected :)
