@paradoxgbb thanks for reporting back verbatim. Did I get it right that the retropie provided binary does work well? (I assume yes, as the binary [1] relates to the lr-scummvm git from 2021-12-27, it runs ScummVM 2.1.1 IIRC)

      [1] https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/buster/rpi4/kms/libretrocores/lr-scummvm.tar.gz

The diablodiab hit-and-miss results leave me somewhat unsatisfied, but I can not put research at this atm. FTR: I am on RA 1.9.7, GCC 8.3 and for me (as stated earlier) the build of 9703372cc8 runs fine on a RetroPie 4.7.19/Rpi4.

Nevermind i figured it out. The guide dosen't it make it noob clear that after you have built your own version you still have to actually move the binary to the appropriate folder but as i said in the end i figured it out :)

@mviars Yeah, I am using SCUMMVM and getting back in to Riven after transferring my 5 CDs that dug out of an old box. It works great. Fullscreen is working fine but it does leave black borders on the left and right sides which I expected.

I am using defaults for video and render, but messing with some of the scale settings yields interesting results for games like DOTT and Full Throttle. Some settings slow down the interface. I am basically using default and OpenGL.

This works great with my 8bitDo bluetooth controllers too. Analog stick moves the cursor. Myst/Riven is pretty fun on the big screen and comfy chair!

Guys, give a try to the lr-scummvm libretro-based core for ScummVM I put for testing here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19693/lr-scummvm-request-for-comments-and-testing/

You can do mappings via RetroArch and customise for each game too easily with RA. Also you can use any RA-supported shader. So far it has been working nice for me, would appreciate feedback from other ScummVM players.

I just found a much easier solution :-)

Apparently in the options menu inside a console list, you can put a game to "hidden". After that, at "filter game list" the hidden option should be set to false. Worked like a charm, no renaming necessary :-D

I like ScummVM simply because its easier to use than DosBox. Plus, I can run the games on my Android Tablet as it's compatible with the touchscreen.

      @mitu

thanks, I'll look for that option after the scraper has finished (found that while looking for the install options and once I realised what it does I just had to do it).

not all have the same files it seems... Driver has a .bin.ecm file, GTA2 and Dark Forces have a .bin and .cue file, Rayman has a .bin.ecm file and dozens of .ape files, Spider-Man has a .ccd, .sub and .img file... Those are the only ROMs I downloaded because they're the only games which I actually bought (for my brother's PS1) but I don't see a real overarching approach here. I don't have a bios file... I saw the Dreamcast page saying something about that but I didn't even have its map so I didn't think anything of it. I see both the Dreamcast doc and the PS1 doc talking of a BIOS file but I didn't get that the emulators are actually missing files; I don't know ehat BIOS files are and do, or where I should get them (probably worth a Google, I'll do that today).

Thank you @ArcadeTV I will be giving this a try. I'd love to hear if you noticed any slowdown or any recommendations as to which filter worked best.

Also, is it possible to download latest ScummVM from source, maybe by changing branch to "master" or something of the sort. A lot of games compatability status had been upgraded since 2.0.0

      I found a workaround:

I added a .scm-File to the root aof the scummvm-games-folder.

For atlantis i have the atlantis.scummvm-file insidde the atlantis-folder and a atlantis.scm-file outside that folder.

In es_systems.cfg i changed the command:

      <command>RetroArch\retroarch.exe -f -L "RetroArch\cores\scummvm_libretro.dll" "PATHTORETROGAMES\retro\ScummVM\games%BASENAME%%BASENAME%.scummvm"</command>

and changed the extension to scm.
      <extension>.scm</extension>

This means EmulationStation sees the .scm-file as the rom and adds it to the gamelist without annoying subfolders.
When starting the rom, wo don't care about the fake .scm-file. We grab only the basename and assume there is a folder with the same basename with the scummvm-file inside it.

      Brilliant,
Thanks for letting me know so quickly. I will install and configure these emulators outside of Retropie using sudo apt-get install.
I will keep tracking this in case they may be ported to the XU4 in the future.

      Thanks all!

@dudleydes Hi there. I know this thread is quite old, bit wonder if you can help me please.

I already have Scummvm (SDL1) installed in Retropie and the games run - albeit with the less-than-ideal controller configuration.

Could I just follow your instructions (replacing scummvm with scummvm-sdl1) up to the point of editing and saving sdl-events.ccp?

I tried running through the full thing and it broke my install of Scummvm (thank the lord for backup images!), and so I'm not sure what else to try.

I should say I have no understanding of coding whatsoever, I'm just trying to work my way through this by following the explicit instructions of helpful folk like yourself.

Many thanks for any pointers you can give me.

      Mark

Careful that you don't spread yourself too thin with too many projects at once. I did that myself back in the day and it literally drove me insane. :)

@sammyboy you shouldnt use runcommand for dosbox. Dosbox has its own video settings in the dosbox config file. Also follow the retropie dosbox wiki to learn how to create seperate .sh files for each game.
