I looks through the romset, and there are around 200 individual games in disk format marked as British releases, so assuredly in English. All of the cartridge games were either in Japanese or Korean.

I did a bit of reading up, and many of the games were converted from Sinclair Spectrum versions, as the hardware and graphics capabilities were fairly similar. The games list I looked at seemed to confirm it - lots of classic spectrum games.

This is just my two cents, but I've not had good luck with 3.0 cables. Sometimes the controller wouldn't be recognized. I ended up stuffing them in a drawer and getting some 2.0 cables. They were the cheapest 3.0 cables on Amazon, so higher quality cables might work fine.

I eventually got some 8bitdo wireless controllers. They can sometimes be a headache, dealing with bluetooth issues. But the tangled up extension cables were a bigger constant headache.

    Oh well not really neccessary.

Are you sure? I could have sworn this was a roadblock for me when creating these manually in the past. Still, it's been a while, you may be right.

One thing I've discovered since getting into this again is that there is such a thing as TOO MUCH tonnage on your team, especially trying to survive the Hard and Suicidal difficulties. If you have 800 tons of mechs, the enemy is going to have even more, and while efficient mech designs and play strategies can defeat them, they are likely to unload enough ordinance focus fired onto a single mech of yours that the engine explodes or the pilot is killed before even getting a chance to surrender, eject, eject ammo, etc. Keeping your team weight low can prevent the one-round kills because the enemy won't have enough firepower to wipe one mech out before you can do anything about it.

@likethereindeer i use a Dualshock 3 and have activated the left analog stick in retroarch.
    Works great for me.
I had Wind Commander III on my 3DO back in 1995 and loved this game even with pure digital joypads.
So the analog input now on my Raspberry is a great improvment for my personal experience 😊

    That's not a real thing.
    ...Wait
    ...Is that a real thing?
    type-ety type type type
Well son of a...It is a real thing!

First celebrated in 2000, I presume for saving our collective butts from time stamp issues.

Y2K abbreviated for any one who wondered:
Way back when, when memory and ram were precious things.
"Hey how much space should we code for the date year?"
"Just 2 digits it will save us that little bit more of room."
"But what happens when we roll over to 2000?"
"Pft, this code will be replaced by then."
    ...1999
    "Ah crap"
Sysadmin: "It's cool, we can fix it. It is just going to take a bunch of work finding the various time stamp codes and fixing them, but we got this."
"Oh good. We should give you a holiday for this. I mean this could have launched missiles and ended the world."
Sysadmin: raises one eyebrow in the how stupid are you kind of way. "No, it would just make some systems not talk to each other and would mess up log files. No missiles. But thanks for the holiday."

    ...AND SCENE...

Happy Sysadmin Day! and thanks for keeping things running despite all of our ID-10-T errors.

Final true store from my IT days.
Me: You filed a support ticket?
Coworker: Ya, my computer won't work it just sits there. It's locked up or something.
Me: Okay let me look. Crawls under desk and then back out as computer turns on
Coworker: Wow. What magic did you do to get it to work?
Me: I... I turned it on. There's a power button right down there.
Coworker: Oh... Could you maybe...not tell anyone about this?

I like to pull that tape of and use thermal paste. I never trust that stuff when it's preapplied.

I just heard about this game today (a little bit late, I know). I read about the latest release and it mentioned it was a DOS game, so I was hoping that I could get it to run in DOSbox - then I learned that it hasn't been a DOS game since the 3rd demo!

Then I stumbled upon this thread - This is awesome! Thank you.

Edit: Good article about evolution of SRB2 Sonic Robo Blast 2's 20th anniversary

@deltax5 said in Anyone use Lukka? does that have that Run-Ahead Latency Reduction since it's on retroarch?:

ohh i thought it ran on emualtionstation or is that the theme basically?

Emulation Station is a launcher for various software. RetroArch is just one of the many pieces of software that it launches.

Just want to know if lukka has Run-Ahead Latency Reduction.

The Runahead feature can be set in RetroArch on RetroPie, as well as Lakka. Due to RetroPie's unique implementation and installation of RetroArch's component pieces, there are only minor features not supported that can be found in other RetroArch installs such as Lakka. However, these features are few and far between. The ability to use Netplay lobbies to automatically connect remote users comes to mind, but it's likely one or two other examples exist as well.

If it's in i hope someone makes a profile for all the games so we don't have to set it up every time.

The only universal setting for Runahead that is safe across the board is one frame, with the exception of the Atari 2600, which games don't have any inherent latency. There was talk on the RetroArch forums about creating an automated system for setting games individually, but I'm not sure where they landed on that.

@sano "When charging, the 4 leds blink together. When charged, they just turn off."

okay ..but mine never turn off ...they just keep blinking no matter how long I have it plugged it.

"PS3 controllers can't charge from a regular usb adapter. USB charging was not a standard at the time, so they need a driver (or a specific DS3 charger) to negociate and charge."

What's a DS3 charger? Could you point to one on ebay or amazon?

Right now I'm not worried about getting it to connect to the pi I'm sure I'll have no problems when the time comes to pair it.

    Thanks for replying!

Is there some game or interactive way to learn about code language and linux (on Raspberry)? Messing with Raspberry the curiosity itch caught my back and I can't scratch enough. I don't wanna just copy texts and press enter, but know why make such decisions.
I don't know if I made myself clear, thanks in advance.

If you're new to coding I can suggest you to start out with C programming. C is portable and universal, many popular programming languages are influenced by C such as Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, PHP, Python. So after learning C these languages mentioned will be very easy to learn.

IMHO the BEST C book is: C How to Program by Deitel. It also covers secure programming and C++. C Programming Language by Ritchie Dennis is also a great book but not for beginners. Avoid the for Dummies books, they're horrible.

Bjarne Stroustrup has written a couple C++ books, they're considered one of the best C++ books. I have them in eBook format but I'm still on the Deitel book.

Most emulators are written in C/C++, the Pi supports C/C++, Linux was written in C. So IMHO better start with C and later C++ and good luck with your coding journey, it will be a lot of fun!

Great idea and build. In addition, you could cover it with a one-sided mirror so it looks like a hall mirror when it's turned off. :)

That would look very nice, but I don't know if I can deal with all the glare it will produce.
