I was pleasantly surprised too by the quality of the DXX-Rebirth engine for Descent 1 and 2.

The games run smoothly at high resolutions, have colored lighting, filtering modes. I just wish that the RPI hardware supported Anisotropi filtering, as that option cant be enabled currently.

By the way if you like descent, make sure to check out "Overload" on Steam, its a game made by the same developers as the original descent games, and the graphics look very nice! All those particles and lights using the Unreal Engine 4 make it worth a look!

    Happy gaming old fellows

@edmaul69 I'm not sure how they arrived at those "average" figures since they also mention that those below 6 years of experience earn much less. I also suspect QA Tester might be a different position than Game Tester.

The first 4 links I looked at averaged somewhere between 20-30k (Glassdoor has 2017 data) which is, let's face it, much, much more realistic. Do you really think game testers get paid as much as highly qualified professionals from other walks of life?

That besides the fact it's all nowhere near the 200k figure mentioned earlier.

I view this very differently I dont think the open projects will be effected.

Its the private closed ones that where the cash is for github. Imagine all the information ms can get from these private repos for sales and advertising and peek at code ect.

The company doesnt have a vey good past with anti competitive behavior it. The commercial end of github is where they will make the cash from. That is how github makes a profit before ms took it over as well it not all free when you go private

This is a forum for RetroPie, not a general Raspberry Pi forum. You might want to ask about Kodi problems on a Kodi dedicated forum/mailing list.

This is a CRT via composite: Brightness about 40

And this one with Brightness: 25
    alt text

Problem is, this is a really low Brightness, even if I bump Contrast to ~80. There's one more variable in my telly (S-Bright), but overall I play with the brighter version on. It all depends on a game though: for example in this title (CAW) the low brightness is mostly fine, but in other, darker titles you will start losing details. It's also dead hard to calibrate properly, I'm not even sure if its possible, to have one profile for all games and systems.

    @ruthless4u said in Legal question:

I just thought it was interesting that when asked in sellers FAQ why they did not have roms installed it was because of questionable legality but they still have it advertised that it comes with retropie installed which is still not legal.

Apart from just being uninformed, I guess they are more afraid of the ROMs' copyright holders than of the emulator's programmers, as the former tend to be big corporations known to sue copyright infringers, whereas the latter tend to be private indiduals or small businesses. Also, many people confuse "free of charge" with "free of rules".

Oh ya i tested out Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (which was kind of slow on the Pi 3) and was more stable on the Pi 3 B+ but there is some sound problems but it doesn't move all slowish like it did before which is more enjoyable sadly Killer Instinct still wont work well the Arcade version and also Spider-Man the arcade game still lags a bit.

@handsomegenius I had a good chuckle at your instructions - thanks! They definitely work too as I'm now watching Perth breakfast telly (and losing millions of brain cells by the second). God save us from Australian free to air. It is truly horrid.

I've always wanted to like Godzilla movies. On paper I should. I love monster movies and the various kaiju, with all of their distinct background stories should really pique my interest. However, after many failed attempts to get into them, I just have to admit, I'm simply not a Godzilla fan. Same likely goes for me and Pokemon. I love RPGs and the idea of virtual pets who can battle each other seems fun, but over the years I've started various Pokemon games and I always find myself playing something else before too long. Still, hope springs eternal. I haven't completely given up on this series yet and I'll certainly go into 'Pokemon Fire Red' with an open mind.

@ruthless4u You may be able to use the controllers through the GPIO, but it would be quite a bit of effort considering how much USB controllers cost, and you might be able to use the reuse the case if you are handy with a dremel tool, but other than that, just start again with a PI.

Pay some "revolutionary" cloud people to take care of my saves? Nah, thanks, I'll just spend that minute-and-a-half plugging in and transferring manually.

Oh I missed that part about cloud backup for saves. That is a handy feature! I am a big proponent of backing up saved games to the cloud.
