    @edmaul69 It uses 550mA, other 2.5 harddisks use the same, the max an USB 2.0 port can use is 500mA. So it is indeed just the same drive just as any other 2.5' drive.

    From what I've understood people got problems with external harddisks because of their power supplies, they didn't provide enough juice.

    @retrofreak89 Since you have the paste, I recommend that you try it. Make sure everything is clean, even of finger oil. You can probably find a video online of someone doing this the right way. Use just enough paste for coverage and so it sticks. No more. If you use too much (if you can squeeze it out the sides, it is too much). If too little, you only get coverage in a small area and you are not conducting the heat. Just right is full coverage, no squeeze out (or the squeeze finishes the coverage).

    Then, see if the vacuum effect is enough to hold it on and monitor it. You might be just fine. If it starts to slide, well, now you know and you can pull it off, clean it and use a harder thermal CPU compound. Mine has been working and not moving for over a year. Heat, cool and re-heat (power cycles) can make it firmer over time.

    @petrorie i didnt 3d print the case. I had to 3d print internal parts. I absolutely hate the look of 3d printing. I would never 3d print an external part that is visible.

    @petrorie The other reason for using US romsets would be because of the NTSC framerate vs the PAL framerate. I know that it is an improvement for many console systems, but I'm not sure if there was a difference on arcade games.

    @buzz said in www.retrogame.club another scam site selling retropie pre-installed:

    @kilopie

    I know what you mean, I've tried reporting in the past, and they make the report system as difficulty as possible.
    A lot of them won't even hear from you unless you are the licence holder of the copyright infringement in question.
    Ends up just being a waste of time, and like you say, draws bad attention to the people who are legitimately using Retropie...

    RetroPie is plug 'n play. All you have to do is install the image on your sd card, load your Pi, config your controller, upload the roms (and bios files in some cases) and you're ready to play. The misc stuff are the tweaking options. But everything is well documented, you can find nearly everything on the Wiki page and if not on the forum. Most of the config options are very self explanatory, I've played a lot with them just to see what they do.

    The guides are fine, no one here gets paid so you really cannot "demand" something from the devs and the community. It's free software, don't like it? Don't use it.

    You don't always need to update your Pi. The only problems you might get with updating is that your neogeo/mame roms won't load because the emulator requires a newer romset, so you need to fix that again.

    I have no idea why you're bringing your personal problems into this topic. IMHO that's not really needed, we all have our personal problems but it doesn't relate to Retro gaming.

    I wasn't sure if the topic starter is trolling or is actually serious. Getting upset about a downvote? The reason why you obviously got downvoted was because of your attitude. You can complain about the Wiki but it's about how you complain about it. You can do it in a civilized manner or in an aggressive way.

    I think he's trolling, he said he has one arm but no offense, how do you even play games with one arm? Sorry I don't believe this guy.

    @petrorie

    To be honest I had heard about the Pi longtime ago but I didn't care until I saw an article about RetroPie. So far, the Pi3 is literally the COOLEST item I ever bought in my entire life.

    me too :D

    for my two cents. the Pi3 will not be going anywhere anytime soon. even when the Pi 4 comes out it will still be made for a bit longer. it has such a large following and people are still making new protects for it. it is dumb for them to just end it.

    this is a company who whole point is to educate people on coding/computer science , not just making money

    I nearly bought an android handheld device, for nearly 200 euros. I'm glad I found that article about RetroPie just before I bought the android device.

    Even if they stop making the Pi's I bet there will be some other company who'll create something similar. There are already other companies making these mini computers, so there is a market for it.

    Hey, you can Graboid them here, or at least once it finishes uploading (~3hrs for 126MB, sigh).

    Can you share that files again? The old link is dead...((

    Probably the wrong versions of the chds or roms.
    But anyhow: i dont think that the chd titles will run fast enough to be playable, they need much power which the Raspberry does not offer.

    @anassassinsblade that's just a video splash. They either disabled the ES splash or just changed it so it was a more seamless transition between the retropie boot splash and the ES splash. It's just a hack.

    I use a VIZIO D50u-D1 50-Inch 4K. I picked it up specifically for the low input lag, and it seems to work great.

    I made sure to use the fastest HDMI port (one is labelled as "best") and turned on game mode, and turned off all post-processing options.

    rtings.com lists it as having 13.5ms, which is excellent for something that's not a computer monitor.

    I had never problems with them 😐

    @piboy I've never seen that article before.There is a guy from one of the main forums for the Nes Mini Classic & Hakchi that dumped the full firmware from the nes mini, and he did some research on the roms that were on the mini, and found discrepancies between the roms and pirated roms online.I can't recall how many pirated roms he found that are on the mini.

    @TMNTturtlguy I am indeed swapping out all of my FBA roms to the new version. I was under the impression that there could be problems using old roms with newer FBA, and it is best to update to the corresponding romset?
