How would I access the emulator settings over keyboard then ?

The old DOS version has a command-line switch to turn off monsters. Does lr-mrboom support the same command line switches? If so, what do I need to modify to include the switch?

@wmcclelion it's not actually straight supported. You have to use a program that i can no longer find on the net as the website is gone to create a windows 95 hard drive image. There is a whole tutorial on it.

I entered configs. It worked. But now what? It left a blank line? I thought it would bring up a list of owner permission to edit? Im lost? can anyone walk me through this?

@RetroResolution I have the same issue but I'm using the official raspberry pi touchscreen. I already had retropie installed on another SD card but that would not power on the screen. So I started again but choose to boot to pixel. (Jessie) if I choose the boot to emulation station will that power on the screen.

Ok, solution found. I don't know why the two settings are different... but anyway.

I was able to stop all game sounds for nes by editing the file:
/opt/retropie/configs/nes/retroarch.cfg

audio_enabled = "false"

This works and doesn't stop the roms from working like using the select-X method. Now working on atari (stella)

@lydia021 try redownloading the sd image and using etcher to write it

@rridenour It does indicate a brownout situation, but I've not had any issues with SD card corruption. Your mileage may vary.

@jadugartir Just to wake an old thread (as nothing else comes up in a search), could you ever find a solution for this. I'm in the exact same situation. jstest shows controller working perfectly. Emulationstation shows no controllers... :( Tried the retrobit driver but that didn't make a difference... The OS sees it, just not ES.

@AlexMurphy Oh I totally understand. I am just sorry I can't provide more. I tried that git hub link but no luck. I have found a work around that was so simple I am almost ashamed I didn't think of it before. I have just swapped the start/select buttons over on P1. Feeling quite silly now!

It is a quirk of the system however. Hopefully my button swapping will last and it wont swap back again once I have put the buttons in the unit.

I haven't tested it myself, but I assume the new input configuration script is referring to the mapping of buttons only. Daphne is an emulator that grabs the first joystick event it can find and there is no way to configure it to do otherwise outside of an external mapping solution.

A tip to hopefully make your joystick appear as the first event is to plug into the upper left USB port. If that doesn't work, then try launching Daphne while it is the only USB device plugged in at all. If that also fails, you're left with very few options other than key-mapping your controller to fool the system into thinking it's a keyboard.
