@Windall where it says it there is a text box (under the edit box) for entering a tag. A tag is like a keyword to describe your post. eg controller for a controller related post (you can use multiple tags).

I'm currently having the exact same issue.
Only problem is that also my keyboard is having problems. So far only the arrow keys and shift seems to work, and not the "Enter" key, so I sort of can't select options in the Retroarch menu to turn off the Autoconfig.

Edit- Ok, did some more searching into it and learned that enter is not the select key on the keyboard. Found some info here https://www.libretro.com/index.php/getting-started-with-retroarch/. Just discard my problems with the keyboard.

@benlefou87 I had a similar problem using AdvMame when connecting one of my Mortal Kombat-Fightsticks.
In my case editing the config-file via the sudo nano-command did the thing.
I had to change the "joystick_input=auto" to "joystick_input=raw".
After that, the joystick of the Arcade-Board was recognized in the TAB-Menu as "D-HAT (up, down, left & right)" and i was finally able to play with the sticks.
I never changed it back to "auto" because the PS3-Controllers, which i also use for mame, work also with Input set to "raw".

Don´t know if this also helps with MAME4all, but may be worth a try ;)

Ok, thank you for your fast response! I have solved the issue now! I found out that I was an idiot.. I'd installed the wires on the buttons wrong, which led me to believe that they were working, as they showed up. Tested it put with another wirering today, and it worked.

    Thanks a lot anyway!

@SpudsMcToole just for the record even if it was a bug with coolcv there is nothing we can do about it as it's closed source. You may have luck getting a hold of Oscar the developer (nanochess) on the Atariage thread , possible someone else may have had the same issue and posted a fix. I haven't been over there in a while so idk

Well, did a fresh download, format, write and boot and everything works fine now. Occam's Razor, I suppose.

    Thanks for your help.

@fongmac You can try this tool and see what happens: https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection

Also pay attention at that message on top of every page of this forum. You should give more info on your post.

@columboscoat I can confirm that this app is pretty handy.

Off-topic: just out of curiosity, how did you get that "Banned" next to your username? :-) Are you really banned and still able to post?

@rbaker I already tried with F7 + any key or ShiftF7 + any key, doesn't work, the sav folder, of corse, is present.

I start to think simply save state it is not supported by mame4all.

Last thing, i have some problem to write correctly in English so I do what I can, sometimes it's not enough, anyway before post this discussion, I assure you, i have tried alone for one week to solve the problem, i have read here and in whole internet lot of msgs but 99% of info was about normal mame (not mame4all) and in normal mame (that i use in my real arcade cabinet) works perfectly and in effect the tab menu (contrary to mame4all) has the two line load state and save state present.
At this point I ask the moderators to close this topic, 90% of topic is out of topic and doesn't help anyone sorry.

    @SpudsMcToole

I can vouch for everyone who has suggested ruling out the TV as the issue. I only started out with the RPi/Retropie about 6 months ago. I started off using my LG 42" Plasma screen (bought in 2006) 720p. I definitely noticed lag like you describe (Mario slightly late jumping, etc.). It was a little disappointing, but I started reading and sure enough saw the suggestions similar to those above. My TV does not have a game mode.

Took my RPi to my brother's Samsung 50" TV and saw immediate improvement (even without game mode turned on). I can't be sure game mode helped in addition but I assume it was probably slightly better. Regardless, the TV made all the difference and it plays very well on his TV.

Now, I have the RPi connected to a 24" Samsung PC monitor that also works very well. In fact, nearly every TV/monitor I've tried was better than my TV.

In addition to the other suggestions above, I definitely agree you should try a couple different screens if you have access.

I'm also curious (now that I better understand the system) whether setting my RPi to 720p as default would've helped in the lag department.

Thanks the 7" is a ribbon cable, leaving my HDMI port free on the Pi.. .. Having a Bluetooth issue as well will start a new thread.

    Hi,

I've had similar problems when trying to run an Amiga emulator. I've found the process of using the emulators somewhat clunky through RetroPi/EmulationStation.

    A few pointers to try:

Use UAE4All instead of UEA4Arm as I've found UAE4All to load most games without a black screen. I usually use an A500 kick start.

Try another copy of the game, some Amiga ADF files have been cracked and don't work well. Look for some clean Amiga roms, they aren't so easy to find online.

I've struggled getting multi disk games to load reliably.

Another issue is mapping USB SNES joypad a real pain to do on UAE4Arm, just wouldn't like the mappings or save them. UAE4All seems to save the configuration with some luck.

Overall, my experience hasn't been that great using the Amiga emulator. Using the older defunked UAE4All frontend seems to be more reliable.

If anyone has anymore pointers and tips please share.

@millertv79 Happy to report that the EW-7811UN works out of the box for RetroPie, and I used the PINN version of NOOBS with success as well, using a Pi Zero and a passive USB hub.

    Where are these Raspberries?

4 Raspberries = 4 Cores = Quad Core = Raspberry Pi2 or Pi3. You see them when you boot the device.

I have exactly the same problem. I found quite a few videos on youtube which shows you how to resolve this by going into the actual retroarch configuration menu's.... but that's in version 3.6 of retropie. In v4.1 (the current latest version) many of those menu's do not appear. I've tried with a SNES styled USB controller... and a USB keyboard. When going through the retropie menu I can use both USB controller and/or keyboard. As soon as i select a game in any of the emulators, then the USB devices no longer work/or are recognised. I cannot even get back to the menu at all. Hard shutdown is the only way to get out of this (unplug the power cable) from my pi. I am also running the same setup as @TheCartesian mentions above running on a pi3 B. HELP retropie guru's..... i stupidly told my kids i'd get this setup for them to play the BEST CLASSIC games ever and i'm failing. Snif snif....
