@Electron there is a rotation screen parameter you can add to /boot/config.txt, but it adds some extra processing to the GPU and had a performance impact. Try it out and see how it works.

@bpreston26 look up the Arcade quick start in the docs to understand how Arcade emulation works. As @GoldManSex778 said, you're just using the wrong Romset for the emulator.

I just enabled SSH, and updated the thread info with read-me-first topic.

I have installed the 4.4 image from the RetroPie site, and I have internet connection, I made a ping to www.google.com and work.

I now with PuTTy connected to the RetroPie.

What should do I do? Where is the path to get the log files?

    Looking into it, the web

    http://espejito.fder.edu.uy/raspbian/raspbian/pool/main/u/unzip/unzip_6.0-21+deb9u1_armhf.deb

isn't working, I copied that URL in my Google Chrome browser and a error file was downloaded.

    But

    https://espejito.fder.edu.uy/raspbian/raspbian/pool/main/u/unzip/unzip_6.0-21+deb9u1_armhf.deb

Work's just fine, so look's like

    sudo apt-get upgrade

command isn't working because that http isn't https.

    EDIT:

    I have changed the /etc/apt/source.list

    and added

deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ stretch main contrib non-free rpi firmware deb http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ stretch main ui

it seems it working now, the upgrade is doing downloading files without error.

But, is ok to use those repositories?

My guess? Is a problem for South American people (I'm from Argentina), that the source list is unupdated or wrong setted, because when I got the url it use http and not https, looks like that's the main reason.

I tried to install the retropie-manager (after the update & upgrade) and I got this error

Could not install packages(s): python-dev virtualenv.

    EDIT 2:

I have it working, to workaround I just change /etc/apt/source.list.p/retropie.list (or something like that)

and added (can't edit because the Akinet detect that is a spam, but add deb before the url)

    https://espejito.fder.edu.uy/raspbian/raspbian stretch main

After saving the file, I use sudo apt-get clean and sudo apt-get update and everything is working just fine (or it seem's like that).

The error is that the URL is unupdated, but isn't the best option.

Idk if I have to send an email to the RetroPie developers to update the repo url for Argentina.

Fixed it, I simply updated lr-mame2003 in retropie setup.

    Many thanks for your help.

If you mean "how do I make the Pi auto-login to Retropie" then:

    sudo raspi-config
    Choose option 3: Boot Options
Choose option B1: Desktop / CLI
    Choose option B2: Console Autologin
Select Finish, and reboot the pi.

Turns out I am wrong. Issue still persists.

I tried using a separate micro SD card with the same v4.4 retropie build and got the same results.

I tried disabling WiFi and bluetooth. This dropped the temps from 75+ C down to an acceptable 50-60C.

Regardless the unhandled exception, freezing, and segmentation faults still continued.

I surmise the pi zero w I bought new is defective.

@Chameleon said in Retropie Freezing / Errors:

I know this is an old thread but I want to keep related information in the same location.

I encountered the above unhandled alignment bus error.

    I then found this post:

"Bus error on Raspberry Pi 2 armv7 command line app #22384"

    https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/22384

I then went to rasp-config via emulation station UI and changed the localisation setting to my locale.

Example: AMERICA > pick a city

So far I do not see this alignment exception pop up. It would pop up fairly fast prior simple idling on the emulation station menu.

    Hope that helps.

    @Tackskull
The gamelist.xml needs to have the assignments for each and every piece of media. If its a new .xml it won't have any direction to the scraped graphics.

I'm sure there must be a way for it to work, in emulationstation there is an option for local media, I don't know what that means but I always thought it was something like that. In skyscraper there are options for local media, but I don't know if it would work like that without the cached database for everything.

It’s literally a 15 minute fix and the standalone for retropie works just as good as the lr version providing you bind your center gamepad button to be able to access the emulator menu.

    For updated info purposes.
When you search in google "how to disable retroarch menu hotkey", this thread is the first thing that comes up.

    As for 19 Jun 2019

All of the above didn't work for me.

But this is the solution now:
    sudo nano /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

    search for menu_driver

The default value should be "rgui". Change that to "null" Null, with two L.

    Save and restart emulationstation.
